ZX12 is no threat (yet)

Fastzx9 it's not just a question of power, you also have to consider the Torque curve and output and Areodynamics at these sorts of speeds are critical.

You coulld have a motor putting out 1000 brake but if the front end is shaped like a brick wall sure, it'll be quick off the mark, but the faster you go the slower more speed is added to it's velocity until the motor cannot physically produce enough power to overcome pressure wave in front and the the drag factor behind.

Frank, Your money is safe. Buffalo has mangled the info that was in the following article. It said 210MPH and mid 9's, not 9.3

"Motorcycle News of England is reporting that the Kawasaki ZX-12 is being tested in its final production form in Germany. The British weekly goes on to say that its inside sources have seen mid-nines in the quarter mile and 210 miles per hour top speed in production trim."

Frank, I agree, the site is for the Hayabusa but all bike info is cool with me. Except I'm a little tired of the mighty ZX12 jazz. I have owned my share of Kawasaki's and I still own 4 Suzuki's counting the Falcon and several other bikes. It just seems that a few Kaw owners are bent on making this the ZX12 rumor site. I like the site as the Hayabusa owners group, better than the ZX9R whiners site. I appreciate all info that is actually pertinent to the sport. And talking to other riders about my beloved black Falcon. Or anything interesting, it's just that the ZX12 210 rumor is tired. Maybe the Zx12 will do 210, so what?

No prob Kevvy, as I said. A thousand pardons sahib. Lindeman goldvalve in the front,Muzzy's titanium exhaust, K&N fliter,PM magnesuim wheels and Metzeler ME3's did fine by my red 98. No other mods were needed, save the blown clutch basket replacement at 1900 miles. The bike was tuned by TC&S.

i think the guys that respond to the stuff looks more foolish than the guys that write it.
theres never a need to get down on a guy for voicing his own opinion aslong as hes not getting personal about it...

to fastZX9; you say you'll "take horsepower over torque any day". Horsepower is derived from "torque", this is what you get your "hp" figure from. You can't have horsepower without "torque". I don't want to explain how; there are plenty of books at the library if you want to know the simple formula.
Horsepower originally was derived from how far a "horse" could pull a set weight at a given distance. People not knowledgable in motors and how the stroke & bore and many other factors come in to play, think that "horsepower" is all that matters when this is not so.

First I'm a liar, then I can't ride, now I am knowledge-less. Wow, you guys are brutal!

My comment was at 200 mph, and at that speed I believe the horsepower part of the equation is doing more for you than the torque. I spend much time on Bowling's Automotive formulas and do understand how horsepower is derived. Thanks!

Frank, Very good point, I can be as guilty as any. Actually I'm real curious as to how the big Kawasaki will look after the changes are made to it. As opposed to the way the first photos we saw looked. It is only rumor of course, but I hear that the problem is inability to control the bike at speed. Also I find it puzzling that redesign of the aeros may cause the bike not to be available this season. It just seems to me that the entire season is a long time to refine the aerodynamics of the bike. Unless some of the other rumors I've heard are true. That the chassis may be the culprit in the handling woes of the 12R. I feel fortunate indeed that the Bazuka is here and is being improved on as we ride the current model, go Suzuki. Also I'm wondering if Yamaha will make an attempt at building an Ultra Sport in the future or will they be content with the sales of the R1/6 and not even venture into this area.
