Imagine if the whole day was s-curves. Not steep hairpins, or dramatic elevation changes, just endless s-curves. Non-stop twisties through sparely populated rolling ranch land. Grassy hills that heave and sigh. Where road crews cut around hilltops instead of through them. Where roads cling to the contours of the land. Our foothill roads are like this because most were originally wagon roads, paths for stagecoaches, then later graded and paved over, but the roads still adhere to the contours of the land.
Meeting in Turlock, in the center of the state - Notice anything interesting - matching bikes perhaps?
Mark just picked up his new Triumph 800 - brand new.
Handshakes & hugs all around when our riders roll in to the meet spot
Mike emailed me several days before the tour. Which bike should I take? He has several and rode his ZX-14 for the last tour for the big open vistas of the desert. Take the T7 I said, lots of backroads on this foothill ride.
Luc rides on every tour I do. He has nine bikes, so his New Years Resolution was to ride a different bike on every tour.
Tim came down from Bend, Oregon. There's so much snow in central Oregon this time of year, he had to delay his departure for three days for dry roads.
Also joined by a familiar face, Mike- he has a Season Pass so he signed up to ride nearly every tour I'm offering this year. He just rode with us days ago on the Death Valley Tour.
Monica is becoming a familiar face with us. She first rode with us back in 2020 during the midst of Covid.
We loved her Prada bag. She's a corporate lawyer and ya gotta be stylish, even with the grizzled ole Pashnit crew.
The Plan: that's the Central Valley at bottom left, the Sierra Nevada Range at top right: we're going to stay in a narrow elevation band below the snow line and above the valley. Top right is all Yosemite NP.
Escaping the flat Central Valley and into the rolling foothills
Don't see many of these - Rich's new Moto-Guzzi V100
Pleased to have Rich back with us, he rode with us a few years ago but was in a bad wreck with a deer. Totaled his Ducati, but he's back with the Moto Guzzi
