2021 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

Wasn't my birthday, but I still got Chocolate Cake. I'm okay with that.

The stories, the laughter, the camaraderie, being together after a year of being told I can't be together with anybody is priceless

This place also dubs as an art gallery if you're into that sort of thing

My lil sister is a professional artist, so I can appreciate the creativity that goes into these.
Check her out at

Right before midnight, still awake and the whole building started to shake, moving left right several times over. And the noise. The whole building started to rumble, and creak. The noise is probably the worst and the most unnatural noise. 5.1 earthquake in nearby Rio Dell.

Yea, not a fan.

3rd day of the ride
Up at 5 and on the bike by 6. Long summer days offer extra light to start my day

Will I ever get tired of taking pictures of this bike? Not likely.

Exploring Shelter Cove.

For a house facing the ocean, I always wonder what these things are worth. This one is about 50 feet from the ocean along the runway.

DSC02207.JPG

Zillow puts this house at $560k. Oddly enough, that's the slightly less than the value my house is worth.

And you have to check out the Cape Mendocino lighthouse

More displays inside, but not quite open at 6am.

Just fly in and walk to your house. Nice.

Shelter Cove Harbor. See the homes up there. What a view. The hills beyond are the Sinkyone Wilderness. No roads, no development.

This fella on the tractor was busily running back and forth launching boats into the ocean

One last gander at Shelter Cove and then it's off into the forest. I'll be back in a year.

Camera compensates for the low light, but this is what it really looks like

Back through steep hairpins to get up and over the range.

And back into the redwood forest

Skipping south to Leggett and back out to the ocean.

Sun is starting to peek through the trees, but it's still pretty early. Zero other traffic and you have these curves all to yourself.

Doesn't take long to start climbing into the range

I run yellow covers on the Clearwater Lights so people see me. I almost never ride at night anymore. The owner saw these shots and is sending me some new yellow covers that are supposed to be at a super-high-viz yellow color. More on that later.

I always stop at Usal Rd. A dirt dual sport road that runs high above the coast and looks down on the ocean.

Homes in Westport, population 70, along the ocean.

This one the guy was restoring for years, and it looks awesome. Lots of weekend rentals around here too.

Windows in that spiral staircase are pretty wild

From the front porch, you're staring at the ocean
DSC02253.JPG

View from that front porch. Yea, I could handle that. Wife wants to retire along the ocean, somewhere.
