2022 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

Don't want to ride the full length over the Coast Range, just through the redwood forest, then we'll cut north.

The Redwood Forest is generally only found on a narrow band of mountainous terrain on the ocean side of the range.

Microclimates produce extreme changes, the redwoods are cold, foggy, wet, pop out the other side of the redwood forest away from the ocean, and it's bright sun and temps can jump 10 degrees.

It's wiggly, but needs a sharp eye to watch out for the pavement. Every year is different.

I've known Bruce a long time, and we're still riding together on tours. His daughter is headed off to college, and here's Bruce coming to see me back when I was doing motorcycle shows. Same daughter.

The Comptche store was famous for their gas pumps. At least I thought so. Long live the 80s. They still work.

Highway 20 is the main highway that connects the 101 corridor with the Pacific Coast. It has all the tourist traffic and the RVs headed for the coast. But despite that, it's a super curvy, very fast road. All those attributes shouldn't go together. Especially the fast part.

It's a fun as it looks. The Hayabusa loves corners like these.

10 bikes come barreling up on a huge RV, they're usually good about being polite enough to let us zip on by.

Fast is fun, but tight twisty is just a fun. We're zigzagging across the Coast Range on this ride. And we can take Branscomb Rd back out to the coast, this is a backroad. Branscomb starts out as a wide two-lane and progressively narrows to a single lane tight twisty mountain road. Emphasis on single lane.
