The lakes were all at the base of this range.

More side roads to explore! I wonder where this goes?

You get up waaaaay too early for me. The last 26 years of employment I had to be at work by 0800. Never again.

Terry, Ha! Up with the sun, or at least on the bike before the sun. Maybe it's the Marine Corps still in me or early riser (7-days a week) dad as a kid. Just want to be on the bike as many hours as we can fit in the day.

The pavement ended, but I quickly figured out these roads all turned into 4x4 jeep trails. This was a nope.

Higher, higher into the mountains over there

La Porte Rd - same road we did yesterday but this time I could take it easy. No group behind me.

Still very early. Sun's not even up yet. No light dark shadows yet.

At the summit, was a single lane paved road. I couldn't resist. But I had no idea where this road went or if it went to gravel ten miles in. No paper map to consult.

Looking it up later. Maybe someday. I realized later I had ridden the lower half, but not this second half at the top of the range. All paved. But goaty for sure.
