Too bad you don't live out here in the wild-wild west bro, where the low traffic mountain roads are beckoning and never reveal how fast you're traveling...........and where the LEOs hardly ever venture far from the local town coffee/donut shop!

St Lucie Cop gave me a warning after saying he knew we were hauling butt.
But if you remember the thread it was not me who was going fast officer it was the other guy on the black ugly bike !

I was not passing nor doing anything other than driving down the road along with traffic.
ALL OF US WERE GOING SAME SPEED TO BE CLEAR .

luckily he wasnt in AZ, he wouldve had to show his papers to make sure it was a legal alien.....
i crack my self up..
pretty lucky at the end of the day, 16 over and only $256. kinda hard to see how he singled a bike out in busy traffic, all going 16 over..

Backyard, neighborhood, next door doesn't matter. That type of attitude towards a citizen exercising their right under state law is no reason to be treated like a criminal, or lectured about your rights. Talk to one of your LEO friends and maybe they can calm this guy down before he makes a mistake and hurts someone because of his "itchy trigger finger"

One of the reasons I installed a headlight switch years ago - at least they don't see me coming from a mile away. Also helps at the track - flip the switch and the headlight is disconnected.
On a side note, I only turn the headlight when I want to be noticed - crowded intersections, etc. I also think that when you are behind a car, the headlight blinds the driver who can't see the bike clearly. I notice a much better yield rate from cars when the headlight is off.

IG I ride around old folks and all kinds of people not from Florida who try to kill me daily.
Anyone ever been here knows how stupid folks are driving around.
People in Town Cars who put blinker on and go cuz they cant turn their neck.
I had both lights on as above in midday traffic cuz its only thing I can do to help be seen.
This time it worked against me, maybe ???

I probably would not ride my bike too much in South Florida. Way too dangerous for exactly the reason you stated. YOU WILL see someone do something that could have killed you every time you go out.
As far as the lecture you were getting goes... That guy was way out of line imo. South Florida has some rough spots, its not like it's all white sand and palm trees. That officer has to be aware of how much sportbike get stolen down there. He should be thanking you for being honest and actually acertaining the required licence.

Well I drew up a simple letter of concern addressed to his Capt.
I sent it to my MOTHER 1st.
What she says goes as always mom is always right . She has same opinions and concerns. As Anti gun as she is she agrees he was a little hot and heavy.
BUT
What can I hope to accomplish by sending this to his Capt?

Just feel like asking if this is SOP or something he may not condone is all.

As sad as it is when things like this (NY) happen all folks with funny names go thru same for quite some time...
He was prolly hoping I was on top 10 wanted list and he was gonna get a quick trip to Washington or something.
Still I just think thats the closest in my life I have ever come to be shot by anyone.
He was ready and if I tripped or stumbled it may not have gone well.
