A little video to get you talking

and I realize this. Which is by far the most intreguing aspect to discussions like these. I enjoy thinking about the 'what-ifs' and such... However, while we still have a LOOOONG way to go, and a lot more advancing we can do, I dont think we could ever get to that point. There are certain limits that are unsurpassable by matter, as dictated by the laws of physics. Now granted, there may be more that we have yet to discover/study, but as far as we can tell, there is no way that matter can reach the speed of light. And even at the speed of light, these distances are still unreachable.

My grandpa and uncle are physicists, my dad's an engineer, I'm a simpleton:laugh: but I can tell you that there are flaws in the laws of physics. What mankind knows now should not be the sole basis for what we will know in the future. It's people that think outside of the box that make discoveries once thought impossible.:beerchug:

The big circle in Moscow is fake. Look at how the top of the light poles disapear when they passs under it.

'tis true. Im no expert myself. I am studying to be a Chemical Engineer. And I have taken a few Astronomy and Physics classes... And I whole-heartedly agree that science is imperfect. It is constantly being improved on and refined. I personally believe that we know enough now to make such conjectures about space travel, however, there are indeed many things we dont know just around the corner that could upset everything we thought we knew, like Einstein did with his theories.

I caught a clip of a child prodigy the other day, I think he's 14? He has world renowned physicists scratching there heads, and then agreeing with him. Kid's blowing a hole in one of Einstein's theories. It was pretty interesting, I'll have to see if I can find a link.

ahh, this is what I was looking for. Discussion, debate and whatever else goes along with them. I'm an expert on nothing( possibly elevators but that could be argued as well:whistle:) but I enjoy hearing thoughts, theories and the like from people who know more about thing like physics, space etc or at least believe they do enough to make an argument. Just to cover my butt, I am not calling anyone out on the latter. Good reading!

so you cant entertain the idea that there might be someone/something out there who has figured out something that we cant even comprehend??

i'm jus sayin... its possible.

I belive I know enough for a good arguement:laugh:

it is definitely possible. And I think we as a species have lots of great leaps and bounds to make in technology. I forget who it was, but a guy once said that the development of science/technology increases exponentially as time goes on. So if you were to graph it, it would be fairly flat at first, then slowly start picking up and picking up and rising faster and faster, until it is nearly a vertical line. I think we as a species are still on the beginning stages of this exponential increase in technology. We are in the relatively calm and flat portion of the graph, and have yet to see the majority of our technological advancements.

However, I think that with the scale we are talking about here, I dont think its possible to develop such a time/space folding travel sort of method. I think our best chance at encountering other sentient beings is going to come when the Milky Way collides with our closest Galaxy neighbor, and the distances between other solar systems get a lot closer than they are now. This wont happen for a very long time, though.

 ...

yeah thats me

Thats pretty cool. Im gonna have to look that up. And Einsteins theories are nowhere near perfect. They are a major improvement over the previous theories, but still need improving. One of the major things that need attention (and is a lot of what many many scientists are working on) is tying together macro and micro theories. I.E. why do the theories for large objects (every day things, like a ball dropping) fall apart when applied to small objects (atoms, electrons, protons, neutrons, etc). And why do the theories for large objects still fall apart when applied to very large scales? (i.e. why is the expansion of the universe accelerating?). I think it will be a long time before we perfect our theories, but when we do, we will be able to do miraculous things for sure.

I'm just curious to know why most sightings are at night (maybe we can see the lights better) and in aaaallllll this time, no sightings of anything landing and coming out........I thought all the satellites and radar and other stuff we have to catch enemy planes and such would pick these things up in space or as they enter atmo and we'd be able to do more..................just having fun thinking about it....

Hell, I'd probably pass up this planet when I got a good look at most of the inhabitants.

Perhaps you guys should youtube some astronaut interveiws. The old timers like Glen Cooper have some very interesting things to say, now that they're old enough for it to not really matter.

whered my edit button go? they dont want me to fix it, either!

hmmmm... cant get it to embedd.... dunno why... heres a link though.

- Buzz Aldrin explains Apollo 11 UFO sighting - not an alien ship[/url]

Not Buzz, Glen Cooper and few others.:poke:

Go back 50 years, how much science fiction then is science fact now? Alot. Narrow mindedness never advances.

Go back 70 years, and it was scientifically proven that the speed of sound couldn't be broken. Only a hand full of folks didn't believe that.

Go back 500 years and the Earth was scientifically proven to be the center of the universe, with eloquent equations to explain and predict the looping orbits of the plannets. Only a handfull of people believed the Sun was the center.

What's fact and what's fiction is mostly dictated by the basic assumptions you make.
