Afghanistan....

I Never said they were moving in on Taiwan.
I like my tinfoil hat.
I respect your been there done that too, really, I do, but you're not there now, and neither am I.
There is much more going on than what the masses are led to belive.
Unfortunately, we will see where this all goes...and it's nowhere good.
....and I may not be there anymore but some of the teams I trained were just there......and we talk.....

How much more do you want? We know there is no power, no communications, no sewage and barely any water. My roads are packed with Louisiana license plates.

Let's get some power and satellite uplinks going and you'll get tired of looking at the devestation.

No part of me gets any pleasure from the hurricains destruction.
The point was how the media picks and chooses their tradgedies.

I said what I saw on the news, and said for whatever that is worth.
I wouldn't be suprised if they show up if they aren't already there.
The media is full of sh*t on all sides now anyway.
I honestly could give a F at this point, as there's nothing I can do about any of it anyway.
You can't hide 300,000 conventional troops in Afghanistan...I'd imagine there is still drone coverage as the coalition will want to maintain intel gathering on Taliban movements as well as any humanitarian incidents.

They will show us every gorey detail. They are basically in caveman mode right now.

And yes I support your notion that the media manipulates the audience. But Al Jezira has no loyalty to us or our politics. They'd be all over the Chinese invasion.

Seeing pictures of the Taliban wandering around the airport full of US aircraft which were disabled is a little surreal....I saw a picture of the Taliban posing with a very intact looking C-130 in the background and other pictures of very intact looking helos..

If it were me, I would have used a few pounds of C-4 in each one to make them a little less intact...

Do them fat f@@kers eat Mac Donald’s too ?

imho the airport although crippling to a country would have been a small casualty in comparison to what’s going on. It would have gotten rebuilt, but all this is just what I think. Yes we were helping the Ana and they fell about as fast as expected. So many times we engaged a target or were engaged by hostile only to have them hide in the background and provide little to no support. I have a jaded opinion of it all but I guess that’s the great thing about the forum. We can share those and most of the time avoid judgement but have a civil conversation with different opinions.

....and at one of the Thanksgivings I was there.....the ANASF guys we had didn't like pumpkin pie....I knew something was up then....

I never trusted them or our 'terps....I always kept an insurance policy at our 6 ready to go in case one of them went rogue. Thankfully never had to use that insurance policy....

I watched a news reel where the Taliban had a victory parade with their captured American armored vehicles, SUVs and HUMMVEESs. A Blackhawk Helo flew over it flying a Taliban banner behind it....

I reckon it won't take that long for the Taliban to find people to crew and maintain these helicopters as they have feelers all over the place....

Money and spare parts could be the Achilles heel in keeping them airborne though....

It's tough to see our former sworn enemy driving around in our vehicles...Canada used many of these vehicles as well.....

I believe the US trained pilot from the Afghan Armed Forces, who now defected was flying it.

Apparently those are not too easy to fly.

True enough but we’ve never brought back all our equipment from any ‘engagement’ we’ve been in. We’ve never trusted our (in country) allies this much either.
