What has been going on there has been happening long before any Taliban have been in existence. To them their actions are not of a "savage" same as the indigenous people of our nations were not "savages." Sharia Law may not be held in any regard by our society but who are we to judge how they conduct themselves? We judge the world by our standards which is not the world standard.

As for the whole pedophile thing, this is a horrible thing to say about anyone...if you have some sort of irrefutable proof that he is one, take that to some sort of law organization. if there is no actual evidence other than what you think you see, it is time to stop using this term.

...and as a former planner of high risk operations, things go sideways in a real hurry and sometimes there is no recovery...there was a plan, the Taliban stepped up their assault, the ANA collapsed and the plan went awry.....go figure....they could be on plan C by now...

@fallenarch by the sounds of it the orginal pull out plan that trump and his team laid out was scrapped and biden kicked everyone out and made the decision between him and Kamala Harris as almost all intelligent agencies told him not to pull out that way. The original peace plan was negotiated by Trump directly with the Taliban in a similar way that Trump's middle east peace plan was negotiated directly with Israel and excluded the Palestinians. The Trump plan was the start of the unraveling of the ANA and the feelings of being deserted by the US. I think they had hopes Biden would scrap the Trump plan and not completely leave. When Biden announced he was going to in fact leave, that's when Afghans completely gave up.

Right now the Taliban are being constructive. No mass killings and no hostages. We need to work with that and get the F' out of there. Even the Taliban claim they were surprised at how easy it was to take the country. They are happy the US is more or less following the Trump deal.

I have friends that served and have heard their first hand accounts(for the record, I tried to serve, was denied on medical 3 times).
I don't care how great of soldiers or warriors they may be, as that is something to be proud of in your own country...but if you ride your dog around in the passenger seat, with your wife in the trunk...if you go home and kill your daughter, for wearing jeans, for the family's 'honor'

Sorry mon ami, you are entitled to your opinion of course but unless you've been there and have actually interacted with these people and have experienced it first hand, it's hard to justify your stance..

I did serve and spent lots of time in the sand box fighting and capturing Taliban...what I learned about them as a professional soldier was a bit surprising....I went in there with a stereotypical view-point but learned otherwise-many are illiterate and ignorant of their own religion-they are told what to believe by an Imam....if that Imam has an agenda, they can be easily swayed.

They have very strong views and people can view this in many ways....I've been to many of your southern states and I can tell you, there are a more than a few very strong view points there which could be construed in many ways especially if you are a new resident to the US who happens to be a minority...

Many other established ethnic groups have tried to practice their ancient belief system within the US for more than a century....arranged marriages, polygamy, honor killings, etc....they still exist and are weeded out when they can.

Their ways and beliefs are very old and have been around for generations....hard to change this ideology...it would take generations to do so...

You and I probably have really different life experiences...which is a good thing.

My experiences have had me in direct contact with Taliban (and other extremists) and that has allowed me to see things with another light...most of the fighters I encountered were very intelligent but many were young and scared but determined and proud. That they had the ability to handle Special Operations forces is something to think about...many times they were able to out-guess spec ops groups and repel them...

As for the southern states, I was kind of referring to the ones who still think the war between the states is still waging and they didn't lose...show up at one of those honky tonks wearing anything but white skin and see how that goes...

I will reiterate, the term "savage" for any group is not something that belongs in the 21st century...along with many other derogatory terms...

Well this esclated quickly, I think domestic terriosm is extremely complicated and clump them as white supremacists is odd. Either way whites have committed 66 mass shootings since 1982 to 2021 black have committed 21 from 1982 to 2021 now if we look at the population difference per capita whites have roughly 236.5 million people in America black have roughly 42 million, white per capita make up 0.00000027 of mass shooting per capita and black make up 0.0000005 of mass shootings per capita, you cant put blame on a single race we are union in most countries. The word supremacists are only dedicated for true supremacists not just some wack job crazy white guy who fell off his rocker one day and shoot up a mall.
