Bentvalve down, car turned in front of him,

His wounds are for the most part all healed up. Nurse said last night that the mirror thing wouldn't matter with him because he is not disfigured and looks normal. His bruising is gone and so is the swelling. He looks good now with all the tubes out. If I showed him a mirror, he'd probably say, "what the hell you showing me that for?" The nurse said the mirror issue usually comes into play with disfigurement and with women.

Last night he asked about the accident but only wanted me to tell him if I "knew for sure" why he was in the hospital. I told him and he wanted to know which bike he was on and if anyone else was hurt. He understood last night and did not get depressed... but since his short term memory is effected, he doesn't remember this morning what he was told last night.

... let him know that he has a lot of people pulling for him and keeping track of how he is doing...
I told him again last night about how many friends he has and alot of people sending him well wishes. He had seemed surprised and asked who... I listed the 4 different forums that have been sending emails... PNWriders and the ORG make up the most of them. He says the ORG is a great group of people.

I tell him alot about you guys and the encouragement you give me to help him. I read the emails to him and he remembers most screen names. I have not said anything about the donation money though... I know he would probably get upset about us making a fuss about him.

I talked with Revlis last night about potential things that may need to be bought once he gets out and back home. There will be alot of adjustments that will need to be made to his living area. He will more then likely be in a wheelchair for a bit so someone will need to make sure his furnishings are situated so that he can move around. His bathroom may need some temporary mods. And I just thought about it this morning... little things matter... you know one of those cane looking things that have the grabbing tongs on the end... I feel like a retard not knowing what they're called... but they are advertised to the elderly who can't reach things int he cupboards... one of those would be great.

I hate to ask but can you guys do me a favor? His emails have been dwindling... since he's more awake and alert now, can you guys send some more for me to read to him? The link is in the very first post of this thread. I know he likes it when I read them to him. Thank you everyone.

Ok Rev, I'm calling you out...

Everyone please thank Revlis for buying a girl some dinner.  I'll forgive him for not riding since he's a good guy and he didn't tease me like James does about my chicken strips.... I'm working on getting those to disappear.

Thank you Keith

Anytime, had fun.  Hope it was good break.

You guys don't know how much I wish someone else was there last night or I could have recorded our visit. It was so great how he was acting. He's an awfully funny guy.

We called TruWrecks and James grabbed the phone from me "Hey man, how's it going? Come on down!" James kept telling him to come down to the hospital.

While I cannot write everything that happened or what was said... too long... I just wish someone else was there to see it so I don't think I was dreaming. The nurse said the hyper-sexual activity is normal for head injuries and he does know what he's doing and it may get worse. So ladies, if you visit, don't be surprised if he tries to rub you somewhere. Guys, if you visit, don't be surprised if he wants to discuss sexual topics. The nurse did say that patients can tell the difference between male and female and will act differently toward each sex. She also said that some patients like to walk around exposing themselves. If James could walk, I think he'd be one fo those patients. According to James, the nurses don't mind if he exposes himself because they're used to it...

It is so hard to convey how excited I was to see him so talkative. He wanted to smell my hair and asked me what shampoo I used. Do you guys really like to kow that stuff? He kept trying to run his fingers through my hair and once smacked me in the face with his cast... be pretty funny/sad if I end up bruised too... I told him to be careful because he wasn't too smooth in his movements. His reply....

"Alot of women would say I'm very smooth!"

ROTFL, Well whatever it takes to keep him motivated and moving!!!

Cherie,

Keep up the good work.  Seems you are a charm for him, and hopefully it will keep him thinking about things, which kinda exercises his brain.

If James knew me, I would grab a BUDDY PASS from some airline employees I know, and take a weekend trip, but I don't think it would do much good, being I would be a stranger.

Thanks once again for your updates, and steady visits to the hospital.  It is peace of mind for others that can't make it, and we all love to hear the progress reports.

No worries, I've only met him once briefly myself, so that's pretty much why I don't go see him. I mean if I were in his place, I would be kinda irritated at folks I don't know seeing me all banged up and damaged.

I like hearing about his 'therapy', too!

Do ya now? Some might get offended by reading about my therapy methods. I'm sure you can fill in the holes... he did get to see my red beads... I was afraid he'd hook a finger through my hoops though so he only got to look, not touch...

Too bad I don't have a video cam... then he could later

watch them when he gets home when I'm not around and he can know what his therapy sessions consisted of.

Hey!!  I just talked to James on the phone!

Cherie was with him & called me....we talked for a couple of minutes.  Very cool!!  He may not be toatlly with it yet, but he has made some serious progress!

I didn't understand all he said, but one sentence stands out....

"sure would be nice to go out for a ride right now"

Now how's that?  I'm stoked.  He is beginning to sound like himself....
