Brake fade after parked for 4 days

It happened twice. After 4 days still, front brake lever initial pull was all the way to the clip on. After a couple of pulls it was normal. Called the dealer to notify. Was asked to leave the bike to check. It is hard to leave it for a week just to check. Any other riders noticed brake fade?

Is it possibly brake knockoff? Check your pads before starting and applying pressure to see if they are firmly seated against the rotors. If they aren't and they seat once you apply pressure and you don't have any other issues until you park it and the pressure is allowed to equalize, it sounds like brake knockoff to me. This is assuming the simple things like checking for air/bleeding are done.

Have you tried to ride it slowly around the block and check to see if the lever loses pressure?

I've had this happen to me once with a bent rotor, I beat my head against the wall trying to bleed the system, only to find one of the rotors was slightly bent....

I found this out when coming to a stop light once and the lever went to the bar, once I pumped it up I had brakes until I got to the next light...managed to get it home and started in with the bleeding and checking....never even came into my mind a rotor could be bent.

The mechanic whos my buddy said even someone kicking it can cause issues as they are floating rotors.

Year ago I was at a bike rally, everyone camped up in tents, everyone drunk and snoring away.
I woke at 3am for a pee, stepped out of my tent and saw a drunk guy going around kicking front rotors on sport bikes, I hate to think how much money that guy cost the owners that night.

hey bee :)

in my view even the shortes ride is too dangerous.

to check if a disc is bent over the max. tolerance (see manual) it is enough to push the bike by hand so far that the wheel made 2 turns.
then a bent disc (one is enough) pushed back the pads into its caliper enough that you wont feel any more pressure at the lever (foot pedal) - as we say here - you grip into emptiness.

at 2nd i would watch the front hoses.
if there is still the mudguard-cross-over-line (originally) is installed i would change that to a 2nd long line from left caliper to pump and bleed the system again.

the cross-over is a kind of air collector and that is not good (in my view a techn. nonsense) and causes problems with the brake again and again.

Glad I’m not the only one. Mine never sits, so the four day window isn’t the issue. A couple dozen times when rolling my bike out I’ve been without brakes. Now I will complain.

This doesn’t happen all the time. I back my bike out every day practically and it happens randomly

So what on earth is “brake knock off”?
Never heard the term used in my locality.
Please explain..
