Caps quick thoughts on Gen 3

I agree Gen2 felt a bit soft and lardy fresh out the box, had to spend £1,200 at MCT for revalved and respringed front end + Ohlins TTX rear shock , throw in set of Rotobox carbon wheels makes a very nice improvement
Gen3 might be nice in 4 years time , I cant quite stump up £16k and with my bike about to tick over to 100,000 miles no trade in value

That's why I'm upgrading to 1406 cc

I don't of many bikes out of the box which are 100% capable, it seems all of them need some sort of modification to bring them to par...

I'd imagine the gen 3 will be no different, it isn't an entirely new platform, just a re-worked old platform which will most likely inherit the same issues the previous generation suffered from.

well each to their own i guess personally have no desire for electronics, abs is standard on anything anyway, ive never had it would be advantageous tho , I was doing powerslides last weekend and when in he mood trying to improve my wheelies on odd occasions, i love talking and riding with guys who drop big coin on top spec bikes with electronic ohlins, full upgrade packages. Now with it seems exotic software that use multi layer screens for adjusting functions for pre-setting a specific ride which can program traction control number, suspension settings and power , wheelie control number, straight out of motogp which is more common or just about progressing to the bikes which are in and around the same ballpark price market as the gen 3.
All this stuff for the big spenders is out there but what i like about the gen 3 is that its so conservative in the software area and is easily turned on/off, I think there is a good bike in the gen 3 but nothing major in terms of a must have from a gen 2
Well, I guess if I had the balls you do, I wouldn't need the electronics. Doing wheelies at 140, yep you got em alright. I was on I-49 in Mississipi one day doing about 120 and a dude on another busa comes on the side of me in a tank top and shorts and flip flops. Comes on the side of me at 120, looks at me, pops his clutch, and wheelied had to be 150 plus and rode that wheelie until he was out of sight. My mouth was hanging open drooling wishing I could do that, I guess?? I pulled one wheelie in my life. In 20 feet, I went sideways and slammed down pulling the skin on my forearm from my wrist to my elbow. You know skin just hanging. It took the ER doctor 2 hours to carefully stretch the skin to sew it back. I asked him if he couldn't stretch it, what would he do. Graft some skin from your ass he said. That's when I really got worried. Shoot man, I still got frigen asphalt in my arm. Wheelie on Bro.

Now that's a story...we need to swap more of these on here :race: I had a similar experience, except they did have to graft skin off my ass  ........ just kidding  I do have asphalt in my arm tho from a power slide gone wrong, I took my forearm almost down to the bone, it was beyond painful

Wheelies are hard on a bike....and as a person such as you who's been in the ER getting themselves stitched back together, you know hitting the asphalt at any speed is not an enjoyable experience...

the aero difference for a busa is more for comfort at high speed and can wear looser clothes , the liter bikes are much more refined in fairings size but relies on the rider to really tuck in tight at high speed, and you feel the air pressure more on the head and body the liters slip through the air better i thought
"Loose clothes"....I have buried the needle a lot of times. Never once did I consider my clothing an aerodynamic choice.:D

Just kidding around. Thought that sounded funny. :p

I've waited to post my thoughts on the Gen 3 because I wanted to have some time to digest all of the data Suzuki has released.

I started by journey with the Hayabusa in 99 when I ordered by 2000 Busa and replaced it with a 2007 and then my 3rd busa was my 2008 Gen 2.

I have had just about every mod on the bikes over the years at some point and have ridden the bike on the quarter mile, across the country on weeks long tours and had full weekends on road tracks.

On very few occasions have I ever opened the bike up full throttle and just let the bike run out to the top end speed. 1st of all there just isn't a good place to do this for top end and 2nd it's just not safe on public roads.

What I did see from Suzuki is a lot of effort in changing the motor to make it more efficient and powerful where it's typically needed as opposed to power in a speed band that very few ever touch. What I have consistently heard over the past couple of days is that people wanted the increased HP and bike spec numbers for bragging rights for a bike in which the war is already over.

I started looking at all of the mods I have had over the years and I remembered Steve Holl and Ken from Suzuki coming to the Robbinsville Bash with us and watching them go over all of the mods that we had put on our bikes. They asked in detail why we made the changes and what the benefits were. We tried to explain to them but I clearly recall the best way to explain the changes was to let them ride on so Ken threw his leg over Zukracers Gen 1 and off on the Dragon we went.. When Ken came rolling back in he raised his visor and was grinning from ear to ear he got it, he understood every single mod that Brian had put on his bike. Ken had an all new appreciation for the mods

Fast forward to Scar's 1st annual Reno event and American Suzuki was there and our old friend Steve Holl again and they asked us about colors, mods and the future of the busa. I remember telling them that some of the best mods would be HID's and cruise control and we were told there wasn't any way they could put those features on a bike because of liability.

I started making a list of the mods I have had on my bikes and the new features on the new Gen 3

View attachment 1632034

The list goes on and on of things that have been included in standard bike. What I think is important is that the top speed wars are over so why are so many focused on the HP and top grunt. The bike is more aerodynamic and if you notice the mid-range get up and go is better than the Gen II. So while I understand it would have been great to have an even bigger motor between your legs that you won't ever use Suzuki offered up a bike that really meets the needs of most of the riders out there.

Folks might want to wait until someone actually rides one before they put a nail in the coffin for the Hayabusa.

The biggest detractor for me is the price, I get there is a lot of bike there but GEESH… I will have to wait a few years and buy a used one from someone else.

Thanks Suzuki for keeping the bike going!

Someone tell me if the trashcan mod got added to the Gen 3

This for sure the best Hyabusa to enter the new market place ,you can’t miss with all the new upgrades.

Ah, if that boy wheelieing at 150 would have lost it, probably wouldn't be any ER would be dodging pieces of human when I caught up with him. By the way, I did speed up to 160 and couldn't see him anymore. Musta had it pegged. Skinny dude too and I guarantee that thing flew with him on it. It was that pretty red and white color, love that color. I like my 2022 black and gold better though, can't wait man. I wonder if he's on this forum.

Got 30K miles on mine. Been talking about this bike for 10-12 years. A friend put $500 down on a black one as soon as the launch happened. Very happy with the appearance. Was real upset about the engine, but it’s not lacking. A very comfortable ride. Did 4200 miles in four days during break in. The price of everything went up. Houses, cars, bikes, groceries. I understand the $18K I paid. Got a butt load of nice gifts with it. Second day found the brake issue. Recall complete. The G3 is a superior handling bike. Brakes better. The electronics are phenomenal and I laughed when I got the snowflake and it’s told me to ride more carefully. I’ve turned some stuff off ( you can’t turn everything off ) turned up engine braking for the mountains. Yes I was hoping for a 1441 but I’ve gotten over it. I’m not a mechanic, so I got a little pissed changing plugs and air filter. Front brake pads were a little easier to change. Cap, the trunk has changed and is smaller. You’ll have to get use to controls. Cruise control is great. I think we lost .1 gal of fuel capacity, and a couple miles per gallon. Did I mention I really like this bike.

:D Happy Dance.

OK for anyone with a G3 - How much $$$$ did you spend making it YOUR bike?
And PLEASE DON'T Subtract $$$ because you already had something that would work on
the NEW bike. IF you started from scratch with nothing but a stock bike - How much did you spend
to make it YOUR bike - one that you now find much better than when it was stock?

The reason I ask is I spent a fair amount on my G1 and I can only assume that I would need
to do that again if I get a G3 someday, so with the higher cost of most everything including the G3,
I again assume it will cost a pretty penny to outfit it like some of you have.

I'm over 30 on mine. All new gear and mods...
Thanks for the reply, still hoping for more replies :race:
I'll assume That is over $30,000 Dollars - So over $10,000 in mods.
Can you either post a list of what you did or had done or a photos of before and after all the mods?

Tune and stacks - $1200
Ti full exhaust - $1800
Swingarm, chain and sprockets - $1100
Windscreen - $150
Triple clamp, levers, Brembo master cylinders, grips and front brake lines $1350
Aero disc and rear brake delete brackets - $450
Suspension setup including lowering and re springing forks and shock - $800
Carbon headlight - $500
Random bits of electrical things - $1000
Rearsets - $300
Quadlock and charger - $200
New trim plastics to change color (includes cowl) - $500
Front strap - $200
Plus probably $500 in shipping

I’m right around $10k, and I know I’m forgetting things. Some of this stuff I bought twice because I wasn’t happy with the first parts or better stuff came along.
