EV vehicles

You will see more and more of this. oil companies are struggling hard these days as they are not allowed to explore or start new extractions under your (and our) current governments....

We may see a huge change in this if these governments are voted out and I really hope ours is-the guy we have now is running our country into the ground.

As we all know, making EV is not any environmentally better than making ICE and in many cases it's worse. The carbon footprint of an EV is pretty high and when and if they become mainstream, the cost of recharging them will climb, once the power companies get loose, all bets are off....we get to see a small taste of this in California.
I don't know about struggling. Lol. There is plenty of revenues still gushing in from carbon based fuels.

I won't be shocked to learn this was some deal to free up some oil drilling that the current govt is preventing.

Govt: We won't grant you any access to oil unless you offset it with some Lithium.

Mobil: OK we are now producing X amount of Lithium.

Govt: OK. We will let you have oil then.

The oil and gas industry in western Canada was having a boom, now they are a shadow of what they were...

People are losing their shirts on property values and repo teams for vehicles are going non-stop...

But I agree with your premise that the government wouldn't subsidize them unless they had some sort of interest in Li and other precious metals to make batteries...I've read that these precious metals are becoming harder and harder to get.

EV battery developers had better start looking at other ways to hold energy before too long.

$400,000 For the first Cybertruck and pre orders with a waiting list of 5 years.

And once purchased, it may not be sold for the first year.

looks like it was designed by a 5 year old with a blunt crayon - hideous

it must be like the Emperor's new clothes , everyone says it wonderful ..... and then later they wake up everyone thinks they have been duped

I just read that Elon Musk in on X stating stupid things regarding "Jews pushing hatred towards white people" and that his company Tesla can ban workers from wearing union tee-shirts....

I don't know what direction this will take for him....unions are usually pretty strong and people are generally pretty loyal to their unions...

His employees are already paid more than any union workers.

I'd fire them.

I’m pretty concerned about climate change, but I thought this was funny.

Elon sums it up best in an interview. There are 2.5 billion cars and trucks. If you snapped your fingers and overnight 100% of every new vehicle sold was fully electric, it would take 25 years to be fully electric. That's 100 million vehicles a year. And assuming population growth doesn't require more to be made to accommodate that.

That sort of keeps things in proper perspective.

The people are speaking around here, dealerships are full of EV that aren't selling.....

Our local Ford dealership has a whole row of Mustang Mach Es and Lightnings that are sitting and sitting....a few are being test driven but people are educating themselves and buying ICE...they are having a hard time keeping ICE vehicles on the lot. The owner of the dealership said he's a bit worried as he has a lot of money tied up in these expensive Lightnings

I've talked to many others who currently drive Ram trucks who will be switching to other companies still offering a V8 when they purchase their next truck...brand loyalty will go out the window.

Pfffft. What do they know. Besides we saw a Cybertruck go 50 feet on a beach and didn't catch on fire. So that should send them flying off the Tesla shelf.

Just in case you though EV’s and salt water was a bad idea.

And if you though it was safe to park an ICE vehicle inside your garage.

I read that article, a recall has been issued and the cause for concern is a potential brake fluid leak?

How many ICE vehicles have we seen catching fire because of a brake fluid leak?

The instances of EV spontaneously catching fire is pretty high. All the instances I've encountered or read where an ICE vehicle caught fire is either in a bad accident, an improperly modified vehicle or an older poorly maintained vehicle...

I was just saying. Did not compare.

You may want to look at statistics though of EV’s compared to ICE’s as a percentage of fires experienced, per capita.

How many ICE vehicles are modified or older models? These factors contribute to fires...

Millions upon millions of ICE vehicles are everywhere yet we don't see fires very often unless in a collision then all bets are off same as EV...

How many spontaneous combustion fires do we see with EV, quite a few...
