EV vehicles

Just wondered when I saw the costing sheet...

Not an inexpensive machine but I know people who paid much more for their ICE trucks.
I can post up a video of a Cyber truck getting stuck in the pretty small buildup of snow. Just so it will offset the video of how well they operate in a beach driving video meant to validate how good they are.

I saw that video and heard someone say it was because of the tires....

I think there are a variable of things one of which is weight, a Cybertruck weighs something like 6800lbs curbside whereas an F150 weighs 4700lbs curb weight...

Throw some people and a little cargo in there and the weight is enormous.....

The problem I see with that is-where does the government get their money from?

It would end up being all the taxpayers subsidizing those who have EV-even people who have no vehicle at all.

Here in Canada, our current government has subsidized VW and Stellantis 6 billion dollars a piece to build battery plants and on top of this, these companies plan on bringing in 2500 non Canadian temporary workers...once this current government is voted out (and it will be) the incoming government will be adjusting this deal thankfully....
Hi. In the USA the government gets there from trees. They have trees that grow money. At least they think theu do.

Human shaped trees at that.....
Government income is actually a bit more complex.

We pay taxes and they have income. They spend a whole lot more than their income, like us putting debt on a credit card. Then they pay interest on the debt with the taxes we pay, plus they still spend more than the income they get from us on migrants, Ukraine, Israel and a whole lot of countries on the list. Some of those countries breed terrorists and support them with our tax money. Then we have to protect against those terrorists which costs more money, our tax money. This cycle goes on and on and on, while the debt on the credit card increases, the interest payments increase and they spend even more money to fire missiles to Iran Proxies, Iran also funded by our tax money.

Then comes the big difference between our credit card and theirs. When our credit card has more debt than we can afford, we go bankrupt. The Government do not have the same problem as we do, as they have something called printing presses. So what they do is they just turn the presses on and they print more money to pay back their debt.

What follows next, is due to the amount of money they print, what cost $1 before they started printing, now costs $2. So the problem is solved for them, for us it simply means paying twice as much for the same thing as we paid a few years ago.

There is my economic paper for today.

Only thing I can add, is as long as we have the strongest military in the world, and as long as the rest of the world respects us and sees us a major global empire, the Dollar remains the safest currency to invest in. As long as that continues, there is great demand for our Dollar and we can speed up the printing presses even more. When we get close to the point where the world loses respect for our politicians (we are close to that) and China surpasses our military strength, what we could buy for $2, will now cost $20. Then follows a totally different lifestyle, eventually close to being the same as those countries producing migrants at our borders.

Sorry for the rant, don't think I will be around to see what is coming, but if you don't vote right, I just might.

Interesting video...

Wait. Are you here trying to tell us that Tesla lied to the public and these highly educated know it alls claiming to know how to separate bullshit from facts, couldn't figure this out?

Gee welcome to almost every Tesla owner in existence. Elon is brilliant in selling to a cult. And people that claim to have a hard time trying to communicate with people that don't have enough education to understand things like they do.

Hertz rental car company......not nearly adept at drinking the Kool-Aide

Seems like I've heard this somewhere before

Brief summary for the slower ones.

Hertz is dumping Teslas for gas powered cars.

Lots of words and I love math but regardless, the fact that the truck can run with the 911 while towing a 911 in the eighth is hilarious, and a Turbo Carrera is my dream car. I mean think about it; the eighth is more like a street race or real life situation.

You keep referring to slower ones, Tom. We could use some of that hot air in the Midwest right now.

When it comes to the Cybertruck and the Porsche, some of us enjoy Musk’s sense of humor, while others are not smart enough to catch a joke.

Although the guy in the video wasn't sure of which 911 was used, I wonder why a 911 was chosen in the first place...it's prowess isn't drag racing...

Maybe they could have chosen a Redeye Hellcat or something more geared towards drag racing...

As ugly as the Cybertruck is, it's technology is impressive.......until it breaks that is......then it's disposable like a Bic lighter.

I was talking to a neighbor who owns his own electrical business and he has a close friend who owns a solar installation business...this year has been dismal for solar, in the past 10 days we've had less than 10 hrs of direct sunlight....all of this guys' customers have been on commercial power and are really questioning their expensive purchase...

This same guy mentioned that last winter we had 70 days of sunlight from Dec to April which hurt his business. He's seriously thinking about getting out of it and he's not alone....

I wonder how residential wind generation is coming along? We certainly have lots of wind here...

It's not the first time he has used Porsche in his marketing. And he chooses his formats carefully.

Elon has some good tech. Any electric vehicle has fantastic torque. In this case, for about an 1/8th mile.

Porsche should respond with thier Cayenne towing a Cyber truck, towing a 911 on a trailer, back to the Cybertruck factory from the racetrack.

Or a Cayenne pulling that Cybertruck out of that minor amount snow that accumulated on the driveway of the poor owner.

Maybe even a voiceover.

"Porsche. Where if you're gonna spend $100K, you deserve to be able to get out of your own driveway."

The Tesla Porsche video reminds me of a joke I use to play with Strava.

Strava is a cycling program which measures times from any point A to any point B on a bicycle and the fastest rider is awarded a KOM badge on record. I have a hack in that software and if someone posts a best time in Colorado for example, while sitting in North Carolina I will ride that same route with my computer and beat his time.

I did it as a joke though and after a couple of days would remove my ride from record so the KOM goes back to the record holder.

Speaking of bicycle jokes...

We had a guy in our unit that was an avid bicycle racer (mountain bike), one day he was being a particular pain in the ass so the other guys took his bike apart and tied each part to our indoor rock wall mountain ops training area...he had to climb the wall, detach the parts and reassemble the bicycle.....if he wanted it back that is......he did and he had a good chuckle over it.

That was a standing joke/threat for a long time....each time he started to act like an ass, the guys would remind him that this could and would happen again regardless of the number of locks he put on the bike....

He got each and every one of them back in one way or another, one guy's boots were frozen in a bucket, another's uniform was frozen stiff and run up one of the flag poles.....he had a good time getting them all back.....and it kept them on their edge awaiting what he'd do...

There was a point where I had to step in and shut it all down though.
