Just received a Woolich Log Box D CAN V3 so I can go in there and start tinkering. On my L6 GSXR 1000, this required a whole bunch of different connections, including adding additional wires into the ECU connector so the log box could read/write to the ECU. On the Gen 3 Hayabusa it only requires the one red ODB cable - how far things have come.

Nice man . My first thing my Gen 3 is getting is an ecu flash, and then a tune. After the full exhaust and air filter of course lol. After that I don’t really need any go fast parts.

I'm keeping the tune stock for now, but I'll be removing the top speed limiter and the dreaded fuel-cut-on-decel, as well as reduce fan temp. My main reason for getting Woolich is so I can reset all the adaptions and tune the throttle bodies, etc. I've been told that the moment I flash the ECU the warranty is void. Next on the list will be Woolich's excellent QS.

nope, it absolutely does not. something called the magnuson-moss warranty act basically means that the burden of proof lies with them, which basically means THEY have to prove that something you changed caused the fault, instead of YOU having to prove that something you changed DIDN'T cause the fault.

i went round and round with yamaha about this before i did much with my r1m and all the major makes are well aware of magnuson-moss. you can tweak stuff all you want, anyone who's paranoid can just flash their bike back to stock although even this, in combination with an aftermarket exhaust, could be a reason for denial since things would probably be running lean.

therefore, you're probably safer rolling in the door with your exhaust AND the tuning that goes along with it intact, so that they can see for themselves things run fine.

literally any dealership that gives you a hard time about this needs to get poop on hard, call your lawyer call local news stations whatever, whoever, make all the noise you can. but you generally don't have to since these companies aren't stupid and they know what they cant get away with. plus, magnuson-moss is from the 70s iirc so its not like any manufacturers don't already know all about it.

Having played with the Woolich interface all I can say is that I highly recommend it for anyone with reasonable home mechanic skills - it lets you control a whole bunch of stuff. Along with read/write to the ECU and diagnostics, there's a range of adaptions you can reset, and of course it'll let you sync TB's by commanding the ECU to disable the Idle air control. I'm completing the Foundation Course right now (free) and might pay for their advanced course simply because I've got too much time on my hands. It might not be a "mod", but using this excellent software to properly tune and maintain the gen 3 Hayabusa is definitely a wise investment.

Hey man .. actually it would be nice to have another person who can do the ecu flash stuff besides Chris Moore and some of the other big company guys lol

The basic flash is simple and can be done by most anyone.
It is the air/fuel maps for aftermarket exhaust that require a dyno, and knowledge to build them correctly.
Or, you can buy a Data-Logger and a Wide-band O2 sensor and do that part yourself.
