First gear issues

Schnitz, Powerhouse, or Moore Mafia can flash it for you cheaper than the cost of the equipment.
I may go that route, but I generally like to do basic tuning myself. That way if I want to change things up in the future I don't have to send out the ECU and wait for it to come back.
Don’t you have sick days so you can finish this thing? I’m looking forward to your first ride report after the repairs. Between this thread and @InfiniteReality build it gets pretty entertaining on the forum. Lol!
I do have plenty of sick days, but I generally make my own hours anyway. I have a very large demo of some software I designed tomorrow so unfortunately that takes priority. As long as I don't mess anything up I'm hoping to have it back on the road this weekend.

And thanks for the kind words, but InfiniteReality is on a whole different level. That is a beautiful build and I've really enjoyed his updates, even the sharpie bolts!

The engine itself is back together, but need to come up with a game plan to get this thing back in the frame. I need to get it off the floor and onto my transmission jack but I was not feeling picking that thing up by myself this evening. Maybe tomorrow if I'm feeling strong but may need to wait til I can get some help.

I've been neglecting addressing the exhaust issue I have going on here. I have no clue how but it seemed to not leak. Regardless it's gotta go at some point, but will be a few weeks before that happens. I want to get a full system since the bike currently just has one of those stubby voodoo "mufflers". I would like to still be able to hear after a road trip so it has to go also. As I'm typing this I realize I'm getting old

My back doesn't feel the best but I got it in there. And of course I forgot step one of putting the chain around the output shaft(don't have the pulley on yet) so I had to loosen everything back up to take care of that.

Also went ahead and replaced the grips and got some bar ends. Went with Progrip 431028. I was going to get the Progrip 761's everyone here seems to love, but I couldn't find them in stock for a decent price with quick shipping. Since grips are cheap I will probably order a set of the 761's also to try them out at some point. For now these will work better than those chrome metal grips that were on it.

If this thing actually runs and shifts once I'm done I am going to be so damn excited. So far it has been rather easy and smooth, but I always have that feeling that I will have to tear it down again since I literally had zero clue what I was doing when I started this project.

Well done you....fingers crossed that it will have no issues...

Have looked at those people that cap the ends and pressurize the different sections while hitting the area with a torch? I’ve seen a few videos throughout the years and seems to work.

Great to see!! Be positive and have some faith in your ability. She’ll hopefully fire right up and you’ll be able to enjoy her and move on to other areas you might want to upgrade when you build some funds.

I haven't heard of that before, I will have to check out some videos. Sounds like an interesting process.

Thanks for the kind words! Will post an update of the progress below...

So I ended up with two extra parts. I know the rubber piece goes somewhere around the gear shift lever area because it was packed with chain lube and dirt, but not real sure what it is, or if I need to tear it down to get that piece in there.

The metal spacer next to it I found when I was bolting the radiator back up. It is not a dowel pin from inside the engine itself, but came from somewhere else. I think it will go in the spare parts bin...

The bike is back together completely minus oil/coolant. The issue I ran into though is the fuel pump is not cycling. I can hear the relay click but the pump itself does not prime. I took it out of the tank while the bike was apart to clean the internal fuel filter and I'm hoping I forgot to hook something up inside. I will take that back apart tomorrow and get it figured out.

Hopefully I can take it out for a test drive tomorrow once I get the fuel pump issue figured out and the vacuum line!

Then we come to the vacuum line over my parts tray. I can not figure out where in the world this thing goes. I will explain further below.

In this picture, the looped red line shows where one vacuum line runs from the "T" to a small plastic box with a mitsubishi symbol on it. Then from that same mitubishi box the vacuum line run from there to where you can see it in the green parts tray in the picture above.

Figured I would add some more progress photos and I also realized I'm missing on of those engine mount lock nut things. The ones you need the special socket for, so will need to get one of those ordered.

Got to thinking about the fuel pump not priming. Is there any sort of sensor that will prevent it from cycling if the tank is bone dry? I never put any fuel in it, but also not overly familiar with how the pump is designed. I know some types of water pumps will destroy themselves if ran dry so it got me to thinking.

The sprocket cover should have 2 dowels,
Both of those are in also, it looks more like a spacer than a dowel. I found it on top the radiator when I was bolting it in. Maybe it came from one of the rubber grommets?
The other part is not the gear lever seal is it
Thankfully no, I will get some better pictures of it tomorrow. It has a cutout on the bottom side but you can't really see it from the picture. It was totally covered in chain lube and dirt, like a half inch thick. Couldn't even tell it was round until I cleaned it off.

Like mentioned above, the sprocket cover has two dowels and some aftermarket exhaust use to spacers on the radiator bracket where it bolts to the block to space the radiator away from the header.

The grommets on the front of the tank where two bolts that secure the tank go, have similar spacers inside too.
(Sorry for all my misspelled words, my phone screws up my typing sometimes).

Edit: to add a pic of the bolts/grommets I think the metal spacer might belong to.
