Flashing the 08 / ECU Editing software for GEN II Busas

I raced my bike this weekend (with flashed ECU) up to 11.5 kRPM on spray with no issues; stock valves and springs. The motor continued to pull just as hard with no measurable drop in torque. I was geared at 16 / 43, but I can now change gearing to 16 / 44 due to the increased rev limit.

Great mod. Great job Greg.

Very Nice Tom! Let me ask you something, Are you doing the "Normal" flash mode? Reason I'm wondering, is about the timing being "unrestricted" for ALL gears now. Have you seen better performance or an increase in HP & TQ in these new timing groups? Thanks,
Phil

Got mine on monday and installed it today. Easy install and will set up on my laptop 2morrow. Hopefully I can play around with it this weekend.

IT WORKS!!!!!!! :cheerleader::banana::snap:
Just got done doing a 100% "complete" Re-Flash on the STOCK GEN2 ECU!!!!
I changed the limiter to 11.8k, no more 6th gear limiter either, and took out the soft fuel cuts(Hard Cut only)did this all in "Normal" flash mode, which means I now have FULL timing in all gears too.
Thank you Petrik and Greg for this AWESOME Tuning Aid!!!!!!

**Update**
Guyz, I Goofed:banghead: on this Pic below I forgot to mention I crossed the wires on accident(Brn & Blu), if done this way IT WILL "NOT" Flash/work!!!!!!
Brown goes to Pin 28, Blue goes to Pin 25...It MUST be done this way for it to work correctly. Sorry for the mess up Fellaz!

HELP HELP HELP!!!!! I am trying to set the com port and my device mgr says its on com
com4(ive tried changing to ports 1-5) and still no luck. I open the engine data screen and where it has the drop menu for chosing the com port it has nothing in the drop down menu. What am I doing wrong. I am using windows Vista and have followed all directions for setting the com port but I still get an error msg to set the port#. When I plug in the usb harness with the key and everything on the fuel pump will cycle on and off ,is this normal? I do think that all wiring in connected properly cuz I do get the ECU ID#.

If it's on com 4, you are all right. My understanding is to use com 1-8. Anything above 8 needs to be set back 1-8.

you have to run the program as an administrator :)

page 14 of the directions :)

VIII. Windows Vista Users

What I have found is you need to set the "Hayabusa ECUeditor for K2-K7 models" program to "Run as administrator". Because it's not like other std programs you can't just find the .exe file in a folder and right click and then click "Run as administrator" like you will for the Flashing software. You have to go through a few different steps.

1st) Go to the file "Hayabusa ECUeditor for K2-K7 models" and open the file the normal way you would do it.

2nd) Once you have it running hold down the keys "Crtl and Alt and Delete" then let go and Vista will pull up a screen giving you a few options. You want to click on "Start Task Manager".

3rd) The Start Task Manager program opens and usually it will have "Applications" showing 1st that are currently running. You should see "Hayabusa ECU......." under Task. Just to the right of "Applications" tab is a Tab called "Processes" click on that. This will show you all the .exe files. You will find "Hayabusa ECUeditor.exe" there. Right click on "Hayabusa ECUeditor" and click on "Properties"

4th) When the "Properties" window opens click on the tab "Compatibility" and down at the bottom left you will see a Box you can click for "Run this program as an administrator" click on the box so it has a check mark and then just click the OK button.

Now you have done all that just close the "Windows Task Manager" window. Close your "Hayabusa ECUeditor......." program and then restart your "HayabusaECUeditor......." again but this time it should have a "User account control" window pop up, just click "Allow" and now your program should be up and running properly.

do you have admin rights on the laptop? I dont have vista so not sure, you are the first one i have heard of that it didn't pop up.

I found this on a google search, you could try giving it a whirl or talk with toxsick rocket here he has vista i think, not sure if he has seperate accounts on his laptop or not

Open the control panel and select System and Maintenance.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Administrative Tools.
In the new window open Computer Management.
From there open System Tools.
Now open Local Users and Groups.
And finally open Users.
Right click on the account named Administrator and select Properties.
There is a series of tick boxes in the lower half of the properties window deselect the one saying Account Is Disabled.
Apply the changes and Log Off, there should now be 2 accounts in your log in screen, select administrator.
when you go to delete your old account it'll ask you if you want to save the documents and settings from it. say yes and copy the files from the folder into your new admin account.
