I've been lifting since I was 19. Yup, that was a l-o-n-g time ago.
At best when I was doing super squats at 410lbs (from an regular olympic weight bench stand) I was benching 350. Boy what poor form won't do to a guys lumbar spine. It does crush/squish/compromise/ and otherwise hurt the L3,4,5 discs nicely!
At that point I was still a 34" waist and 255lbs but had to wear 38" waist jeans to get over my quads.
Started running a lot to stretch the erector spinae muscles and dropped 40lbs of water mass in about 2 months. Now I gotta keep up running to keep stretched so it's tough to gain size. I stick with moderate weight now 250-300 with good form. No more squats!
I'm pretty happy with my build now for an old guy with compromised discs, rotator cuff problems, bicep tendenitis and first grade shoulder separation though.
I don't do alot of heavy lifting anymore . For bench pressing I start off at 190 x 10 reps, go to 225 x 10 reps and finish with 245 x 10 reps. Generally on chest and shoulder days I stay around the 245 to 250 lbs and no more
I let all the Young Studley Guys do all the Hernia work
Last time I one rep maxed I was at 375. Would say about a year and half ago. But problems with shoulder do not allow me to go all the way down to touch chest anymore. Usually stop with last set around 315x7 or 8 now.
I tried it when it first came out ....seems to really help when U hit those flat spots on your max . Just adds that little extra to get you going again . Bad thing is , if U cycle it like you're supposed to , it gets real expensive .
Andro was a waste of money .....even though Mark McGuire swore buy it .
