I am going to have the shop do it because I've noticed its a lot of time and work to do the install.
e intel :)

What a great write up. I’m new to the forum but plan on doing this mod so thanks so much for all the work you put into this. I’m familiar with tools but not a master mechanic so this is very encouraging.

Has anyone installed the Gen 3 Helibars yet? Sure would like to see if they worked and any photos of said set-up for review. Appreciate any feedback - cheers

Came across this:

Handle bar bracket extensions. They seem OK, from Germany. Anybody has experience with similar? Do they have any disadvantages against the Helibar bar risers beyond the looks and the 5mm difference (20mm rise instead of 25)?

I wonder, as they are €35 instead of $179 and ship from EU (no import fees for me). Helibars' apparently only EU distributor, motoluxe.eu, didn't even respond to my two emails inquiring about availability.

If somebody knows about other EU source for Helibars, please share.

My similiar experience is from my gen2.
Those risers are cheaper simply because they are just round spacers, which work the same, but the whole riser plate takes alot more material to make, as well as the time to design it.
The only possible disadvantage one could argue would be strength, as the support is on just the round spacers, vs the solid plate.
However, with the round risers I ran for a few thousand miles on my old gen2, I never had an issue.
Aside from a very severe impact(which you would have bigger problems then anyway), there would most likely need to be a casting flaw in the top clamp cover in order for it to fracture or break around or near a riser.
Normal riding, without hard impact from poor wheelie control, and there should be no problems at all with risers vs the whole plate.
The only other difference would be looks.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I will wait a few weeks and if I see no EU source for Helibars, I'll get the spacers based on this.

Helibars is a real rip off. It’s way overpriced.
Heck, we could say that for just about anything...

Helibars have a job to do just like the risers and in my opinion look better and closer to stock than those clunky looking risers.

We look at drop pegs and the price of Knight's design pegs....people buy them because they look good but they don't function any better than the Chinesium ones....

It's all about taste and affordability.

I have the helibar riser installed which also allowed me to lower the bike 1 " front and rear.
no issues.
also did the 1" lowering pegs and adjustable kickstand

can anyone tell me what is the diameter of these bolts at the base?

It seems the gen 3 suffers from the same ailments as the other generations when it comes to comfort.
We all know it's all personal preference, but as much as everyone has heard me b*tch about the gen2 being uncomfortable, Suzuki fixed all my gripes with the gen3(I will modify or change the seat, Saddleman style center groove, but no big deal there).
Subtle changes in ergonomics for the gen3, but I could instantly tell.
I'm also used to sportbikes and their riding positions, 26+ years of it.
I wonder how many people who don't like the riding position, how used to sportbikes they actually are?
And I know the Busa isn't technically a sportbike either, but close enough.
At least there's alot of peg, seat, and bar options.

I'm seeing quite a few threads on owners keen on improving the gen 3 with different seats, pegs, risers, Helibars, etc...pretty much all the same stuff as the other generations.

It makes sense as the gen 3 is based closely on the gen 2.

It has been called a sport tour bike on more than one source...I've never seen it as a sport tour bike-more of a sport bike that is capable of being ridden for a distance due to it's size and weight.

There's a reason it is the most modified sport bike on the planet...it's a great base platform.

Ok I have now fitted the Moto CNC 27mm bar risers to my Gen 3 Busa. It fits perfect. The only thing you will have to change in the kit is the Bolts x4 that run up through the yoke to the top plate. You will require 4x M10 x 1.25 x 90. Bolts. You can go for 8mm Hex socket or 17mm standard bolt head. Both fit very easily and I found the standard 17mm bolt heads much easier to tighten than the Hex styles. Really easy mod to do and makes the Gen3 even more comfortable. Looks pretty stock to

Bolt size M10x1.25X90 which is a fine pitch thread
