Points being missed, yes I too was expecting the 1440cc engine, however one must remember that it was always been quick, engine size doesn't mean much when most owners will potentially modify theirs , reflash or remap the ecu will give you more power, by pass the engine restrictions like I did on my 2014 gave me more horse, wait till it actually hits the floor and someone unleashes its potential before you Rip on it , multiple traction controls, power controls , engine braking. The upside to this updated Gen 2 is you get all the electronic bells and whistles..for less hp and range...
That being said, there will be a few of them sitting around gathering dust. I guess there was no Suzuki rep secretly hanging around our site judging by this offering. Kawasaki has won the battle of street dominance afterall.
I'm going out to the garage and hugging Bumblebee...
What a Beauty!
What if those little tweaks in the motor could take a 150 shot if nitrous or live in 15lbs of boost unopened.I'm so sad right now 187bhp 111tq. What? in 2022? So you expect me to pay $18,599 for a slower bike with a bunch of electronics? No thanks. Gen 2 it is for me. So disappointed. And they say they even tested a 6 cylinder turbo before deciding on the same engine....WTF Suzuki
That’s my point exactly when suzuki does the math majority of their market falls into this category where no additional power is really needed just added electronics, a few enhancements and call it good. (I was buying one eventually if they came with the 1440)I rarely if ever go into the higher rev range, and honestly all the power I have is wasted on me...I do like the feeling I get knowing I have this much power at my fingertips if I want to use it though.
Street dominance is not my goal so perhaps a bike such as the gen 2.5 would work for a guy like me.
They probably look at the fact most bikes are governed so ultimate top speed is irrelevant. Mid range punch is where it's at for most people. That’s my point exactly when suzuki does the math majority of their market falls into this category where no additional power is really needed just added electronics, a few enhancements and call it good. I can’t wait to see how the motorcycle editors reviews of the Gen 3 go.They probably look at the fact most bikes are governed so ultimate top speed is irrelevant. Mid range punch is where it's at for most people.
The gen 4 will probably be an E bike anyway.
We see it on this forum all the time...people are always looking for more grunt and are changing out sprockets or cams to get it. This bike may have that grunt...maybe.I can’t wait to see how the motorcycle editors reviews of the Gen 3 go.
Mine does mine does!!!We see it on this forum all the time...people are always looking for more grunt and are changing out sprockets or cams to get it. This bike may have that grunt...maybe.
I know there are many who say they run at redline going to the corner store but how many bikes on this forum spend much time at 300kms/hr or more out on the streets??

I see this is your first post....welcome and if you plan on sticking around, let us get to know you and your bike a little better.I am disappointed in the initial numbers of the GEN 3. I like all the gadgets and all. But the numbers are not adding up for me. I have a GEN 2 that's pretty much where I want it to be in looks + performance parts (leavers, full exhaust, rearsets etc.). I will keep my GEN2 and wait to see the reviews from real world users, before spending over $18k on the GEN 3 that just does not have the same power output than my GEN2 IMHO.
I run it up close to redline often even though that is usually only in first or second gear. I do want to know I can hit 160 mph easily whever I want though. The Gen3 would be good enough for most of my riding, true and a liter bike or a 600 would probably be even better. I would have one of each of those too if I could afford them! I picked big bores because I dream of going 200 mph and these are the bikes to do it on.Actually why do most buy these bikes? Is it for the peak power? I ask because most I seem to hear on this site talk about not revving over 5000rpm and babying their bike around on the streets while ranting about the civility of this beast. Just coming on here asking why their secondary injectors don’t seem to be working. I think the Busa is just as popular for it “around town driveability”as it is it’s all out performance.
I on the other hand and sound like you are the same hit the upper rpm range just about each time I venture out on mine lol.
Yup.I do like the feeling I get knowing I have this much power at my fingertips if I want to use it though.
is that what we're calling it now!!?...regardless of what the Gen 2.5 is
I guess but I would think if Suzuki designed it to have potential power that would surpass the earlier models, they would have at least dropped the hint now that the bike is released. When the ZX-14R came out, there was no doubt it would be a stronger 14 than the Gen1 ZX-14.I think we should all wait for proper independent evaluation testing before we are so tough on Suzuki.
They should have done a redesign then. FCOL, it's the same engine as 1999 only they reduced the stock power. Stock power has always been a good indicator of potential improvement with mods. If the Euro 5 requirements made that impossible this time, they should somehow allude to that if the bike indeed will outdo a Gen2 mod for mod.In the race world yes , but in everyday real world reliability , and low warranty costs by a manufacturer is a no with out a redesign .
obviously a bike with 92k miles will be worth less than one with 10k miles but if your 2016 is in good condition, yeah, I'd say you would have more buyers now that the Gen3 has come out. If mine had those miles and was running great, I'd keep it rather than buy a Gen3. Put some money into it and rejuvenate it with cool aftermarket stuff. Heck, pop in a low miles Gen2 engine if the original feels a little sleepy. That's what I'd do rather than buy a brand new weaker busa from the start. Nice thing is we have time to wait and see how this new bike responds to mods. I would be in no hurry to run out and buy one. Worst case scenario is you can't get the paint you want so you might need to buy a set of fairings from whatever year you like. I have a feeling that black or something very similar will be a staple in the years to come though. I'm not sure what more they would go with other than solid colors with that eye catching trim they are putting on it.Even my 2016 @ 148000kms ?
Could not agree more. Was considering letting go of my 07 if the new release built on what had been done already and incorporated its full potential ... but alas, I will most defiantly be sticking with my current ride.Waited 14 years and we end up with basically a dressed up Gen 2... same frame and engine... but less power and less range!!!
Yes it looks nice, the new brakes are a decent updgrade and the gadgets are OK, but WOW did they miss an opportunity by not giving us something all new.
I was expecting the fastest bike in a straight line after all this time!!! We just get a blinged up version of what we already have!!!!
I'm afraid Suzuki have lost their way. Re-freshing old stock just doesnt cut it anymore IMHO.. so sad!
I'll be going out and giving my Gen 2 a clean up and sticking with that... Gutted.. totally gutted...
J
I feel like they already gave it helibars in a sense with the 12mm closer position , most of these guys complaining because it isn't all new and 1440 aren't seeing that Suzuki actually did listen and did a lot of what we all mod up anyway. The new tail reminds me of a better looking gixxer tail mod, the bars are similar to helibars, they put switchbacks in stock, factory quick shifter, launch control just as a few of the things I see that I really like and they did because of paying attention to what a lot of us have done to our busas. About the only thing I don't like is the price but I have to say I definitely plan on having one some day but of course I'll have to wait for the fastest color (Red) to be releasedHey here is a positive note, what gen 2 mods will fit on the gen 3 since they are so similar... some of mine that Might have to transfer KD pegs, heli bars, and maybe even my seat? Maybe exhaust?
Haha, yes indeed, thankfull just got my 2020 on January 5th, Redbird, out to hug her too.The upside to this updated Gen 2 is you get all the electronic bells and whistles..for less hp and range...
