Gen3 - couldn't be more disappointed

Sorry for the novel but need to vent!

This... this took 10 years??? Some tech they already had on their last GSXR1000 and some new farings? F#€%IN cowards!!!

All they did was make it look better and updated the tech. Those were expected updates, where's the H2 killer we've been waiting for?

Where's the bigger displacement and turbo engine every single article, forum, fb group, youtube video ect.. has been asking and hoping for?

They didn't even at least match up to the 1440 zx14?! It's 2021 and they still get to say theirs is bigger! And this one has less power??? Like did I really read that right??

What f#€%in chicken poop designer/engineer decided on this? If they were gonna do this, first off they could done this at least 4 years ago!

Second, why couldn't they just make a second version like they did with the GSXR1000 if euro 5 restrictions were such a problem?

I know the 1000 R version isn't more powerful but overall it's a superior version of the same bike, more tech and some better suspension.

This easily could have been the "entry level euro 5 complient" version, and then thier could have been a bigger turbo version "R spec" or whatever you want to call it, for the rest of the world that wanted a real predator!

Fresh new look...check. Heated grips & cruise control...check. Nicer cluster, head lights, tail lights, and styling...check. Bigger, meaner, badass turbocharged engine to decimate all...

EPIC F#€%IN FAIL!!! This is nothing more than a gen 2.5! 10 F#€%IN YEARS!!! I still can't get over that, 10 years to simply chicken out and not do what they did from the 80's to the early 00's... raise the bar!

And not surprising... majority of the people commenting on all the youtube videos about how amazing and revolutionary this thing is CLEARLY DON'T OWN ONE!!

Suzuki Japan; "Hey anyone wanna buy the same bike with with some new fairings and slightly less power? Anyone? Anyone? 3 catalytic converters... Anyone?

Unbelievable!!! Looks like we wanted, teched out like we expected, but the one most important thing they were EXPECTED TO DO (biggest, badass engine) they completely poop the bed. At least it's going to be comfortable and pretty right!? SMFH!

Aside from some snazzy new fairings and a few tech/convenience feature updates, some of which my gen 2 has been updated with already... What exactly have they to produced that makes it worth spending the money?

Like look at your busa, take away everything that's almost the same as this one and is what's left worth the money... whatever the price tag is!?

They failed to raise the bar as far as I'm concerned. Others may feel differently and that's fine, I'm sure many will still be happy to buy it. And looks wise no doubt it's a beautiful bike, but a true Gen 3 it is not IMHO... it's a 2.5!

I'll keep my money in my pocket and stick with my gen 2 thanks! Hopefully a true Gen 3 is somewhere in the future, if Suzuki ever decides to grow a pair and make one. So disappointing!

All Suzuki needs to do is to keep selling the busa any way they can. They made the old bike slower, dressed it up and called it a Gen3. The people who just bought a Gen2 are rejoicing. My god, if there are any newbies out there buying a new busa, I hope they come here to get the scoop first. Dealerships will have a hard time pushing this one. The price of used Gen2s in good condition just went through the roof.
I have a red 2020 for sale for $25,000 if anyone is interested. :super:

So I was on one of th Suzuki Facebook pages.
The $18,600 USD price tag is for the BASE model.
Loaded up with the touted electronics, it comes out to $27,000!!!

WTF?!
I looked on Suzuki website and can't get any price except the 18,599 or find anywhere that it gives other options. Seems to me that the 18k model comes with basically all we seen in the video or at least the way I've been reading it so if anyone has something that can show me the different options and pricing please share it. Not that I'll be able to afford one any time soon but I just like having my knowledge on all things busa as up to date as possible.

Wow, you guys are tripping. You realize this is a 2022 model and they have to meet modern day emission standards. This thing's got three catalytic converters and a drive-by-wire system. I can guarantee you that they are playing with the throttle opening to keep the emissions in check. I bet that once you put an exhaust system on it and get the ECM sorted out, you might see close to 200 horsepower at the tire.

For some reason I think they built it for the aftermarket to do what Euro5 won't let them do. But I can't get past the 18k price tag.

I am sure the way things are moving at suzuki's end this world will soon see a EURO10 GEN10 1340CC 75 BHP 75NM TQ hayabusa....i am still unable to convince myself to pay so much for a so called new bike that produces less power than its outgoing model.....

Just like with the 2nd and 1st gens just be prepared to do what we all do and throw a few mods at it. I really believe that once it's unlocked it'll have more power then the gen 2.

My mates on other sportbikes are shaking their heads in disapproval after reading the new specs on the eagerly awaited Gen 3 here in Australia. Gen 3 is a laugh. For a moment they and myself thought the new Gen 3 was going to be a beast over the Gen 2 and be a weapon on the track, road twisties and straights. No one I know here has said a good thing about the Gen 3 spec wise. I feel disappointed, P/O and embarrased by riding mates telling me its a heavy gas guzzling underpowered whale of a thing after all the partial advertising hype and wait. False advertising Suzuki. No way would I even consider spending $28k + on the Gen 3. Hope Suzuki read these threads and gets the message. Keeping the Gen 2, getting an S1000rr instead. Suzuki lost me and potential riding mates for good that would of converted to a Gen 3. Sounds like a sports tourer with some added electronic aids for inexperienced riders. All that hype for nothing. Furthermore, here in Oz there is a $1000 so called bonus including hat, garage mat, key ring, rear cowl, bag. Seriously? Was there any loyal customer input into the Gen 3, I doubt it reading some of Gen 3 sites. I also doubt exhaust and flashtune would make Gen 3 any better. Thanks for nothing Suzuki.

Waited 14 years and we end up with basically a dressed up Gen 2... same frame and engine... but less power and less range!!!

Yes it looks nice, the new brakes are a decent updgrade and the gadgets are OK, but WOW did they miss an opportunity by not giving us something all new.

I was expecting the fastest bike in a straight line after all this time!!! We just get a blinged up version of what we already have!!!!

I'm afraid Suzuki have lost their way. Re-freshing old stock just doesnt cut it anymore IMHO.. so sad!

I'll be going out and giving my Gen 2 a clean up and sticking with that... Gutted.. totally gutted... :(

Its a Hayabullshit.

Can't find the original post on Facebook as its buried in all the comments, but I did find this screen capture:

I think this model is a slap in the face. Basically, Suzuki decided Gen 2 owners weren't going to upgrade so this bike is for new to Busa crowd and Gen 1 owners. If you want the electronics, that's it for a Gen2 owner. I do like the new look but the slats in the side grill is so sad. It's like Suzuki is trying to imitate the Kawasaki, a shocking admission that the Kawasaki is the new king of the road. I would excuse this if the Busa had a bigger engine that needed to breathe, but it's the same 1340 cc powerplant - so this was just cosmetics and brand dead cosmetics at that.

Lots of impressive bikes out there are Euro 5, To put out a choked down 1340 cc motor with less horsepower, less fuel mileage (smaller throttle bodies and less mileage?), and expect someone to buy it? All those electronics are no doubt a tangled web to undo to get at pre-Gen3 performance too. Does Suzuki even know what we do with Busas?

I was joking when I said I made my own Gen 3, but turns out I did a better job than Suzuki. There is no way I'm giving up the confidence of Ohlins suspension for average stock suspension. And the GP4 Brembos and Rcs MC are as close as it gets to ABS and much better feel wise. Add this ( GRIPONE S4 - GRIPONE ) and my bike is a better fast-street bike than the Gen 3 is at about the same cost ($18K).

I don't dislike the Gen 3. I think it looks pretty nice (except those insulting side fins) although I'm not a fan of the color choices. Maybe Suzuki is planning on adding a motor in the next update that won't be several decades away? If I didn't have a Busa, this would be an interesting option and I think sales might be better than people are thinking. But Suzuki was clear with this one, they didn't build it for us long-time Busa Boyz.

Wow just saw @Dopey post, $28K! That's insane says the man who buys $30K BMW's.

Suzuki = MotoGp champion 2020

Suzuki competitive = GXR1000R

Hayabusa is fat lady, built for comfort at high speed, different market. For young ones, fat lady is fun, but they don’t want their friends to see them with one.

For the old guys, fat lady is good option.

"Upon further review", I don't dislike it either. It seems Suzuki took the high road, instead of getting in a wanker measuring contest with Kawi, they improved their already very good bike. Sure it's missing a few ponies but most of us wouldn't miss them. The electronics and dependability changes are pretty impressive. If Suzuki comes up with a good looking hard bag option I might still be interested. After all, it is a Busa.

That says a lot :super:

That may be how it is now, but that's not how it always was. When I would roll up on the Busa everyone would look and say "that's one of them superhero bikes." Every kid in the lot wanted one if they could only afford it. Suzuki let this bike die, and Kawasaki still has the mystique with the 14 and more so with the turbos.

On the GSXR 1K, MotoGP champion or not that bike is 4 or 5th in class performance-wise. I don't get why Suzuki doesn't put out a Champion special and add premium running gear and soup the dam bike up. It's like they are most committed to being average. Stinks of corporate management by the numbers. Motorcycles are about passion, you can't build good ones like economy cars.

Actually no, that's not a Busa. Maybe a good bike, but just like a repackaged GSX1000 is not a Katana...

maybe covid messed up their economy, and Suzuki scraped the revolutionary change... And just did an update

My neighbor who just bought an M1000RR said he was reading about the new Hayabusa and although he likes how it looks and the electronic suite, he was baffled at how it didn't come out swinging with an upgraded engine...

He said he also read the part where the techs said the engine has great potential for hp gains which read to him it is up to the aftermarket to make the engine what Suzuki was supposed to...he equated this to going out to dinner, ordering a salad and the waiter giving you the ingredients to make your own..

I thought that was a good analogy.
