Gen3 - couldn't be more disappointed

I'm probably one of the few that likes what Suzuki has done with the Gen 3 Busa. I use my bikes for sport touring and moving the bars back, cruise control and heated grips are a big plus. Not fond of the pricing and charging extra for some of the add ons, but nothing is getting cheaper and it is loaded with fresh technology.
Like the previous gens there is plenty of power waiting to be had for those who desire to mod and the plus is it sounds like they beefed up the motor. Like some have said, I'm just glad the Busa is sticking around. With Honda's Blackbird gone long ago and Kawasaki looking to drop the 14 there still is a big powerful sport tourer that will log the high miles.
It will probably be a few years before I commit to buying one and hopefully there will be some deals on carry overs or low mileage examples. Anxious to read some real world reviews in the near future.
I like the platform just not the premise, the Hayabusa was born from the ashes of dominance...it was designed to go after the then fastest production bike-the Blackbird, hence why it was called the Hayabusa.

Then Kawasaki rattled their sabres and Suzuki designed the gen 2 to counter...which it did until the ZX14R came along then "cricket" sounds came out of the Suzuki corporation. Now this, a gen 3 which is more of a 2.5 and is gearing itself towards sport touring rather than street dominance....

Like others have mentioned, whether we use the power or not, it sure is nice to know it's there in case we want to.

I can see Suzuki's point-nobody but older riders can afford to ride it so they geared it towards them (us).

Maybe that’s the problem; they have lost the Busa DNA (by saving money) to give the world a sports tourer with electronics to aid the people scared of the old bikes power. Maybe that’s the idea now....

For me it’s not a Busa if it doesn’t scare me. The new one won’t.

I don’t want a S1000RR but maybe that’s where we have to go now for cutting edge... what a shame!
I believe the American thing is how fast it gets to 60mph and the 1/4 mile. The Europeans have caught on also. So Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Mercedes, BMW and Audi are all in the game.

The Japanese have not really caught on, reliability is their credo.

American live to go straight the rest live to go around corners

Comes with a seat cowl, the hump? Like that’s otherwise an extra? The hump? And now a plaque and a jacket? That’s Harley marketing, boutique sales enhancements to spur sales prospects. This kind of marketing is directed at those who might not otherwise be inclined to buy (any) superbike (and) when sales projections don’t look promising. Wow!

It doesn’t come with the hump, it’s a Suzuki accessories, as in, it’s a extra purchase, and yes I know all about harley marketing, bought a 2019 CVO Roadglide last year

I suspect this (these?) will be offered as a dealer installed option as well.

I never considered a section of the bodywork would be optional equipment. Like not getting the trunk lid on your car or the tailgate on a truck. WTH Suzuki?
You are right! That seams like a glaring omission, especially since the hump is synonymous with hayabusa. I hope they fix that in the coming model year.

Now that I looked that article over a little more thoroughly they show several little trinkets in the photos that I expect will be options. Tank bags, frankenstein bolts from the old bikes, rim strips, axle sliders etc. Go through the pictures if you like.

Kawasaki had a similar deal with Akro on the Z900RS models. They called it a $600 extra but between certain sales dates, every buyer got one. Many ended up on eBay as they didn’t look or sound that much differently. The Cats and other baffling will determine the dba and how well they breathe regardless of which slipons are installed. Unless the Akro slipon has its own Cat like the OEMs but there’s still the large central Cat. Do they look that much better? Are they lighter?

I will almost guarantee these slip ons have cats in them...Suzuki wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot after all that Euro 5 foolishness..

Waited 14 years and we end up with basically a dressed up Gen 2... same frame and engine... but less power and less range!!!

Yes it looks nice, the new brakes are a decent updgrade and the gadgets are OK, but WOW did they miss an opportunity by not giving us something all new.

I was expecting the fastest bike in a straight line after all this time!!! We just get a blinged up version of what we already have!!!!

I'm afraid Suzuki have lost their way. Re-freshing old stock just doesnt cut it anymore IMHO.. so sad!

I'll be going out and giving my Gen 2 a clean up and sticking with that... Gutted.. totally gutted... :(

Costs poop loads to develop a whole new bike tho...... probably covid had an imput too in the decision. At least they didn't scrap the Gen 3.

From what I gleaned from that 17 minute video they did experiment (spent lots of R&D money) with several frame and engine combinations and decided to stay with what they already had, merely refining the motor and leaving the frame alone. No apparent lightening efforts anywhere.

It will cost a pretty penny to shave the weight off her,but doesn't it always :D
Maybe I'll get a quickshifter for my gen1 to bring it up to gen1.9.....

Yep, electronics and lighter weight costs money, even more than motor work. I suppose I’d enjoy the QS even though I don’t drag race. I’d like a shift indicator (my 2018 Kawasaki has spoiled me). I’d probably like ABS too but not linked brakes. As for ten levels of all the other riding modes offered, I’m a tad apprehensive as to their real world value.
