I know personally I like to have my feet under me rather than stretched out in front.
I don't personally know many cruiser riders who have switched to a sport bike but know many who did the opposite or went to adventure tour platforms.
I certainly can't see the attraction of the ape style bars which places one's arms above shoulder level...
Not gonna lie Forward controls take some getting used to but even then it’s a love or hate relationship. I’ve had forwards on 2 of my Harley and I actually like the seating position. I’ve recentu sat on an Indian Scout with forwards and hated it same with the XDiavel so go figure?? If you notice most Harley riders have highway pegs attached to their crash bars so they can rest their feet forward almost like your sitting on a couch with your feet on the coffee table. So why not stretch out and still have your foot controls readilly available?
Far as the Apes go it’s really up 2 you and your body type. I’ve got 10” bars on mine and it puts it close to straight ahead. The stock bars were lower and @ an odd angle which gave me neck and shoulder pains after an hour of riding. Some guys just feel comfy and @ home with those y’all ape hangers??? Again different strokes different folks....
