you need to look where that info came from.
Criminals anywhere don't seem to have any problem acquiring firearms regardless of any law put up to stop them so no, i don't see any problem at all. Laws only hinder the law abiding and have no effect on the criminal.

Vermont's carry law's is what the rest of the us should be.

we have a winner!!!! :beerchug:

Using your weapon for self defense varies state to state. I have had a CCW for eighteen years, in four different states and the laws vary widely (even in your home). Talk to your local state police. Not one to dispense advice normally. Shoot if you have no other option, finish the job and then get a good attorney.

No such thing as Concealed carry permits here. You cant even really own a handgun here. You can have a handgun but it has to be stored at a police station lockup. You can have it at home but it has to be locked up separate from the ammo and when transporting it you have to call ahead to your local division and give them times when you are leaving , when you will be back , where you going etc.

I seen a guy on the news wearing a side iron to one of the recent "town halls", caused quite a stir. I think use it or lose it, our culture should not be so convinced that only the law or the military should should be permitted to pack, it's our right. Dude stood out like too much.

As one of them mil'try men, I will tell you that having normal citizens walk around with high powered weapons scares the "beep" out of me. With out proper training it is a recipe for ill things. Even with tons of training we some times have "friendly fire" incidents that are sad to hear about. It is our right as Americans to gun ownership but if you buy a weapon out of fear and do not get proper training I consider you an idiot and a danger. Sure we have a right to protect our selves but if you think your fellow Americans in uniform are going to knock on your door at any time to confiscate your weapons you have been lied to. If you really believe Obama or any politician really has that much power to take our weapons then I have some sea front property to sell you in Nevada. Obama never even said that he wanted to take away our weapons and told Clinton to stow it when she was talking about assault weapons going over to Mexico.

The real deal is that when a democrat gets elected then the profit margin of small arm weapon manufacturers go up. The price for even reloads at my local range went up to twice the regular price of the top rounds right after the election. The top rounds are way out of my price range now. Get real people, if we carry either concealed or open we need to do so responsibly and leave the ideological crap out of it. That guy was more in danger than any person out there and any one around him could have been collateral damage. I don't know for sure but I would have had more than three points of fire set up just for him. Please if you get a weapon get more than initial training. Go to a qualified range more than once every five years and really think about why you want that weapon. By the way dead men don't talk but forensics tell the story for him.

Just took the Concealed Carry class yesterday, it was very interesting to find out the answers to all the law-related questions about gun ownership and self defense related to using a weapon. Also addressed a lot of those "urban legend" type questions and myths like "If you kill an intruder on your doorstep drag him inside" type stuff...

Definitely also raises some questions about whether you only use the gun for personal reasons, or if you use it in situations where something bad is happening that doesn't directly affect you, where you might get away unharmed but it leaves a bad guy where they could harm or kill someone else.

So, please pick where you fall on the poll, but feel free to post your position and feelings about an armed citizenry. Also if you have questions about getting a permit or other questions feel free...

I know this thread is over a year old, but a certain incident happened today 8-xx-09 that has made me and the wife needing to carry or at least wanting to know more about local southern California laws and ways to carry.
I will not post the incident here on a public forum, I know people here will want to know so if you are informed on local southern California law or can just direct me as to where to start then PM me your phone No. and I will explain.
thanks

Be safe always, even in your own enviroment,

Sorry to hear you're having issues Bro. Problem is with where you live. (not being funny) The politicians in your delightful state have gone out of their way to ensure a ready supply of victims, actually I believe victim is something taught in schools.

Point is you're not getting much help because by and large California Does NOT issue CCW permits. SO.... Yeah.

Here's your best shot. Concealed Carry.net

Best advice, again not being snarky, is get the HELL outta So.Cal.

Thanks for the info and the advice, me and my wife are still currently coming down from the adrenaline high and will probably not sleep well without a few adult drinks.
I know the Cali laws are tough and if I could find work and weather better than here, I would be out in a heartbeat, not just because of this isolated incident.

I have already begun to introduce my wife to the weapons in the house and she is adamant about getting training and learning how to shoot. We were in this situation together and I have to tell you she had my back. She is a formidable enemy and a loving wife, but this shook our life a little and she is not going to let this happen again.
Thanks again and I will keep you posted.

In a nation where law abiding citzens are not allowed to have weapons, the only people who do have them are the criminals.

I don't have my CC, but want it badly. Unfortunately in Nebraska it is expensive to aquire and keep one. I would like to see if there is a state that we practice reciprocity with that I could get one in, then keep that one active. If anyone knows about this idea please PM me.

Pete

P.S.- I own a Taurus .40 S&W.

Had for about 15 years now.

Word is around here you should not carry self loaded rounds in your self defense gun. Reason being, you can load a round to tear up a person instead of .....

Could cause a strong civil suit~!~

Government is in the process right now of attempting a law that says the cc permit is acknowledged through each state.

You might have trouble getting one if you're not a current resident of a state that issues.
