The best way to deal with cats is to buy a trap large enough for a raccoon. Find a place where they frequent but not where they go to the bathroom. Buy a variety pack of cat food. Put an open can in a trap as far back as you can on the trap release mechanism and set it in a area the cats feel secluded ie not exposed to human trafic. Some times I screen the traps with plywood for this purpose. Once the cat is trapped you have options. If they are ferral I usually put a air rifle pellet either between their ears(on top of their head) or on the corner of their lower ear. It is humane and they expire immediately.Of course you can turn them in or turn them loose elsewhere as I have done with skunks, opossums and raccoons. Wash the trap out real good with cold water and let it air dry. Wash the trap area down too. Find another location away from the trap as cats can smell the other cats poo or blood.

Are they feral? If they are I would just kill them. There is nothing worse than a feral cat. My wife found one 12 years ago and insisted we keep it... It took along time before you could move through the house safely. He did turn into the coolest cat ever but it was touch and go... If they are a neighbors cat I would go put all the cat Sh(i)t back on their yard and submit a cleanup bill. Not kidding about the feral part... Dangerous to everybody and territorial to boot.
Ask your local animal control if they have a " have a heart" trap you can use. Buy some cheap canned tuna and try that. worked for me years ago...trapped like 4 cats that way.
Forgot to add that you can sprinkle cayenne pepper around your yard and put it on your trash bags...one sniff of that stuff should deter them for a while.

Hey Scumbags, many folks here have cats, cool? You Get it? How about the a#$hole Anti-Freeze and pellet gun stuff goes elsewhere.
Many of us do not feel the need to lord over another animal because of some insecurity, we don't need a huge dog to feel somehow special or clever and fashionable. So here's a big FU to EVERYONE advocating hurting cats or stating that cats are stupid, blah blah blah... So if an animal doesn't kiss your A55 and fetch a stick like your little freaking retarded servant it's bad??? Get a life... You've NEVER heard of a cat killing the neighbors baby, or wife, etc...
Besides, pellet guns can actually injure...
Airsoft is A LOT more fun, you can go full auto, and at best the pellets will leave a serious welt... Freaking Amateurs...

I said from the get go I dont want to hurt them, I just dont want them around.. Found out today the lady at the end of the building is feeding them.. No wounder they are here. Maybe we should get rid if her instead.. I completley understand people loving cats, I for one dont care for them. Freaking drag queens if you ask me lol.. But I would not go out and kill a animal for no good reason. I did call the local animal shelter, but no go on the trap.. I am going ot Wal-Mart this evening for a BB gun.. I did the hot pepper thing last night, not I got Mexican cats dancing around little cat hats out side..
try an airsoft gun instead of a pellet gun. You can still kill them with a pellet gun but an airsoft gun will do better in detering them away from your area, the only problem is if someone is feeding them chances are prety small that they will actually leave.
Nobody's mentioned cat condoms yet. This would solve the REAL problem. You buy the 12 or 24 pack of kitty concoms, sprinkle them randomly beside bushes on the outskirts of your lawn, and the issue takes care of itself after a while. You see, REAL manly cats will take advantage of the free protection because they don't wanna catch anything off those skanky alley cats that have been ridden like Seabiscuit on the final lap. Not to mention dodging alimony [or MILK MONEY as they call it], so it's a win-win. Doesn't cost much, no one has to drink delicious car fluids, and the population decreases naturally. Just don't get the ribbed, they don't hold up.
shame people let their pets roam free now days... Having had to be the "litter box" for neighbor cats, I can empathize with how disgusting someone elses cats can be... Nothing like coming home and your flowerbeds are a cesspool of cat crap...
