Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to help. I am sorry that your friend is gone. I wish i had magic words or amazingly insightful advice that would help you emotionally but i don't. May you remember the fun and loving times you enjoyed with him and dwell on those rather than the sadness of his passing.

Sorry for your loss VA, I know what a loss like that is like and it sucks. Keep your head up and as hard as it might be , id recommend starting to look at another dog/puppy right away.
Nothing can replace your precious dog but in time you can love another dog. There are alot of dogs out there that need homes...get going!

VaBusa,

Really very sad news. I am tearing up as I read your post. I know I love my dog like a person and I dread the day this happens in my life. You hang in there, you will always have the great memories Maggie brought to your life.

Maggie, I never knew you but You were one GREAT, Great Dane!

Thanks guys...I appreciate the kind words...I really do...

BV - having two older Danes has been very tough...at this point, as much as I miss Maggie, I think we both want a break from having two aging dogs living in our home...both of 'em seem to have been heading down at the same time, so the last several months have been tough. Poor Mags kept losing her bladder and had cysts that would burst/not heal, Scoobs is losing his bowels and has very weak back legs making it tough for him to get up the steps, stand up after lying down for a while...to be honest, I really thought Scooby would go first given his size...

We will get another dog some day, but right now we've got Scooby to focus on and boy does that poor guy need our help right now, then I think we'll take a breather...it's already on my mind, I won't deny that...got to mentally prepare for a pup that may eat drywall and my cabinets as Scooby did so many years ago

Watching dogs get old is tough. My oldest Pitbull is going on 12 and could be called up any time now. Its gonna be a heart wrencher for sure, ive had him nearly 1/3rd my life.

VA, my heart goes out to you. The toughest part for many is that the pets don't know they're sick or old. The best part is that you were there for her to the end. Some people aren't truly close to there pets and the animals don't get the love and attention they crave. It sounds like Maggie had a good and full life and that's all any of us can hope for. Hang in there, things will get brighter from here.

Very sad Michelle

Julie's dog is a Great Dane and mine is a G. Shepherd. Bloating is a concern for both, I'm dreading the day when one of them goes...

Don't wait until you feel your ready for a puppy, get one a little sooner. My Mom was glad that she didn't wait any longer(she wanted to, but was convinced to not wait any longer), after she got the puppy it seemed right.

There are lots of danes needing rescue also. Lots of good reasons to get another.

I'm so sorry, Michelle.......I know having Danes is hard....but you got a lot of good years with Maggie, as you know....more than most Danes. Take comfort in knowing you gave her a loving home for all those years. You will get another Dane, anyone who has them can't be without them for long. Take good care of Scooby, he needs love now that his friend is gone.

Thinking of you,

Tim

Va,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our puppy is almost 15 yrs old, and we will be facing the same in the near future. I can't imagine not having Wallace "under foot" all of the time. Godspeed, and remember that time will heal what reason cannot.

God bless.
Dennis

Thanks guys and gals...

I can't imagine lossing our fur child, there just like family.

I am so sorry to hear about Maggie, I know there is nothing I can say to make the hurt go away, but with time that hurt will grow into a loving memory. All the "bad Dog" things will be forgotten.
