I'm so sorry for your loss, Michelle!
Wish I had words to make it easier on you, but I know there really aren't any to do the trick~
R.I.P. Maggie...

I'm sorry VA. May God comfort you in your time of mourning. I had to put my boy Zeus down 11/04. I can relate to your great sorrow.

My heart goes out to you Michelle. Pets truly do become part of the family. Long distance hug sent.

Extremely sorry to hear about your dane Michelle. Hang in there!!

Sorry for your loss. I have had dogs all of my life, and I know how you are feeling. I have said many times I could not have another one after losing a longtime friend. Time will pass and you should get you another pup. I am convinced that dogs reincarnate. My dog pepper is so much like the doberman we lost three years ago it's scary! He makes me think of Duke the doberman everyday, and he brings a smile to my face.
May the good lord ease the pain you and your family are feeling tonight.

Sorry to hear about your loss. The Danes are an awesome breed and 11 years old is awesome. My husband had a Dane that used to carry around a live chicken in his mouth. He never harmed the bird, but left it a bit slobbery! Take care.

Thanks so much everyone...

Doing a bit better today...Scooby's keeping me busy with all of the extra love he gets...seems he's been getting more treats as well...spoiled rotten hound

What great looking dogs. Like people, dogs are part of the family...each unique in their own way. It's unfortunate all dog owners will likely have to deal w/ this situation. Once for me already and I have a 3 year old now.

Things will heal over time.

Your dog has stinky breath, too? I found a trick that will sweeten his breath and turn it into just plain hot breath without the stink. Albertson's has huge knuckle bones that a butcher will custom cut for you. Don't buy the middle part. Just request the huge end knuckle which is larger than the size of a grapefruit. I have him cut the knuckle in two, but your big boy probably doesn't need it cut. Bake the bone on a raised rack for 2 or 3 hours until all the grease is baked out. After it cools, then let him have it. Kind of like brushing and flossing every day. The gnawing action really scrapes their teeth crystal white and their breath won't be so vile!
Good luck:)

I'm very sorry to hear about your girl.
Danes are very special dogs (well, all dogs are special, with the exeption of terriers

).

My boy at his favorite past time.

Hey now, I have a terrier (part yorkie part fox). Doesn't shed, almost never barks, house trained and laid back. He has an easy life. Most terriers are too yippy for me. I just got lucky. If I could clone him I would have another one.
