I need to quit smoking

I quit two weeks ago cold turkey after smoking for over 40 years. I smoked more than a pack a day. You can't find a picture of me on the org without a smoke. I agree 100% with the people that have said you REALLY must want to quit to get r done. I still have the urge, but no way will I light up another. I know I have been a bear for my wife to live with the last two weeks, I'm sure she doesn't know how hard it is and how it makes you want to go off over the smallest thing. I think I have the smoking licked, just hope the marriage survives!

Well what little I know about you (or any racer), you just need to focus on your goal...  I got faith in you!!

(oh btw, I picked up Smokey Yunnick .com as an account this last week! His daughter runs that show now)
Thanks, I appreciate the vote of confidence. We went to the auction when they sold off Smokies garage stuff. He had some real interesting engines there, some one off chevy stuff.

I decided to quit on our wedding night thinking it would be good gift to wifey. We almost didn't survive the honeymoon. But 17 years later we are still married

I went back to smoking after that attempt, but I've been smoke free now since July 1, 2003.

8 hours so far...

You can do it Randy! If you have really made your mind up to quit, you will overcome it. Something that helps me is that when I feel the urge to have one, I think about the reasons I wanted to quit in the first place. The good pair of pants I burned a hole in. The times I got in the truck and drove to the store to buy smokes, when I really didn't feel like going out. The $$ I spent one them when I held off buying something else I wanted because I couldn't afford it, and I felt like I had no choice when it came to smokes, I needed them! A couple of days after I quit I got in my new truck. I didn't relize how bad it made the truck smell. Coworkers have commented on the fact I don't stink like I used to! (that one really hurt). When you start thinking about why you wanted to quit, you will start getting pissed at cigarettes, and the control they have over you. When I get pissed watch out, talk about resolve, I'll show you. Give it a try, I'm pulling for you!

Nasty habit to stop. Over 25 years myself. Quit about 6 months ago. It gets easier as the time goes along, but you'll feel better after only a few days. No more hacking when you get up in the morning. Climb stairs without getting winded. And wait till you realize when you stand next to somebody, and you can tell they just finished a smoke. You start to realize just how bad you used to smell. And the $$$ that are not being pissed away are not chump change. You'll start to have spare cash.

Best of luck

still hanging in there. It is snowing like heck here right now, I need to go shovel.....but if i do, i will want to smoke.

Good luck - know that is tough.

I'm trying to talk Sambusa into quitting. With what he spends in cigarettes each month he could get another Busa. Now who wouldn't want another bike sitting in the garage?
