That makes immigrants sound like helpless invalids. Most of them are brave, driven people not here for a handout but here to improve their lives. The byproduct is that they work, pay taxes and contribute to the gross national product. This is amplified by the fact that baby boomers are aging and retiring, leaving jobs in need of applicants. Immigrants teach themseves the language and make friends just like any decent normal humans. There will always be an element of the human race that acts like a parasitic draw on society but it's spread evenly across all nationalities and races regardless of citizenship. The generalization you used is distorted.
You're leaving out a few things. By law they can't work until they have been granted either Political Asylum approval. Or a temp to permanent VISA status. This process is currently taking about 2 years. So in that interim they can't legally work or obviously pay taxes. We still however have to house, feed, clothe, educate the children, and provide healthcare.
Of the ones asking for political asylum, about 95% will be denied. So after that 2 years at our expense, then we put them on a charter plane, again at our expense to return them back to where they started.
And in the infinite wisdom of some of our politics, they have decided it's inhumane to hold them in detention centers for more than (it's either 60 or 90 days, I think it's 60). So the solution devised was, put an ankle bracelet on them and send them out onto the streets if there is no housing.
Gee what can wrong?
I'm am all for legal immigrants coming here to seek opportunity. That is America. But it wasn't until recent history we decided that when they got here we provide them social assistance in the form of all of the above.
So again trying to make this sound noble, makes you feel noble in your eyes I'm sure.. But leaving out the part that kills it from being the right idea is why we have a problem.
Houston our 4th most populated city is on the brink of healthcare collapse because of this. Dallas already has begun declaring bankruptcy in its hospitals
So if you don't mind, I'd like to have a healthcare system that can actually treat Americans that pay to have it. When major cities can't provide its legal population with healthcare they will cease to have many legal citizens that wish to stay.
And if you do mind, I don't give a rats a$$.
