It just doesn't stop

People are definitely the problem but the very easy access to guns makes them a lethal problem.

There are gun owners out there in the US who don't even know where all their guns are....this can be a problem when the wrong person finds them and then uses them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, I digress and do agree that the social family unit has changed considerably over the years...parents have no clue what their kids are up to and kids can very easily have a secret life hidden in social media.....

When my kids were growing up, we took and active role in their lives and each and every meal was taken at the kitchen table as a family....even so, when they got to a certain age and social media became a thing, we lost a bit of control over them and they could have easily strayed down the wrong path......it was only through strength of resolve of 2 parents that we kept them on a somewhat even keel....if we weren't diligent even for a short while, they would stray...

How many parents in this day and age put the effort in to keep their kids on the straight and narrow?

Speaking of pie, it's been a long, long time since I've indulged and I'm due.....
Bee. I think this is a key to a lot of the decline. It's not just guns. In general the kids have lost guidance. They seek it in very counter productive outlets. And yes parents have taken their eye off the ball.

Our military has gone completely woke....

My wife showed me a write up they gave her and there was no use of the word "she" but rather the use of pronouns...like "they, them, their" even though it was referring to my wife.....it was really difficult to read as I was wondering who they were talking about....

Add to this the modern dress regulations are very, very liberal....males can wear long hair and beards, painted finger nails and face piercing while in uniform......and if a male chooses to wear a skirt with his dress uniform, he can...

Makes me want to puke and I know there are millions of veterans rolling in their graves......

The military is suffering from personnel shortages. I know they are relaxing their enlistment requirements. But dear Lord is this what it has come to?

To be clear, the term woke originally meant being sensitive to racial prejudice. Social Media has tried to morph the definition to include any notions that Liberals lean toward and I’m sure you have no issues with your military not condoning racial prejudice.
I never liked the term as it’s incorrectly used as an adjective or adverb when actually it’s a past tense of a verb.
I know, I’m an arsehole lol

The standard is getting so low that our special forces units have nobody to draw from because they aren't dropping their standards and rightfully so...
It's the same here. Recently I learned that the Navy will now accept recruits with an ASVAB score of 10.

That's like just be able to spell your name without cheat notes, and you score a 10.

I suppose they need someone that can scrape barnacles but shheeszz things are getting bad.

And my neighbor behind me is retired Special Forces. Like 6+ years retired.

They've called him up to see if he will come back in. Offered to up his pay grade and a come back bonus.

He's like Hell to the No he won't. He's late 40s.

So yeah things aren't looking good for the military.

However it's morphed, I don't think I identify it with a political notion personally, I think it has changed to a certain frame of mind.

It has morphed into this now....

"Woke culture, known as 'being woke', is a modern social phenomenon characterised by increased awareness and activism for social justice, equality, and systemic oppression."

It's not pretty......the world has reverted to the 1970's "peacenik" time period where everyone wants to grow long hair, beards and smoke hippy hay......at least it's like that here.

"Flower Power baby..."

I'm surprised the VW bus hasn't made a huge comeback....

…”"Woke culture, known as 'being woke', is a modern social phenomenon characterized by increased awareness and activism for social justice, equality, and systemic oppression."

Whatever it’s called, increased awareness and activism (for) social justice and equality and being (against) systemic oppression is a good thing. Or don’t you agree?

Just the word activism says it all for me.....activist can quickly descend into extremism....it all depends on the perceived cause of the activist.

Mankind has been on this earth for millions of years and the use of "he and She" has never been an issue until the last few years...instead of he and she we see they, and them....what the hell is that I ask?

It's ok to give people their rights but don't force those rights on everyone but this isn't the case....woke people want what they want and the masses have to respect their rights while giving up ours.....if I ask someone to refer to me as Mr, he or him, I am being phobic......

Society as a whole is on a constant state of decline to where people's cell phones and social media platforms are becoming more important than living a productive life.....some people don't want to work in certain fields or environments due to the fact they are not allowed to take their phones...

There is good news on the horizon though, the pendulum will swing some day........hopefully before I'm too old to enjoy it.

The systemic oppression is THEM trying to oppress everyone and everything they don’t agree with.

Has anyone seen the recently released video of George Floyd and his 2019 arrest?
Same thing same behavior. Tried to swallow drugs in car before he got out. Arrested for same thing, resisting. All Mn cops say they were trained in MRT, Maximum Restraint Technique. It was dept policy and training. Yet the governor, mayor, chief of police and asst chief all said it wasn’t. In fact the chief testified under oath it wasn’t. He flat out lied and perjured himself to cater to the woke screaming masses. And in doing so helped fan the flames of destruction we witnessed. Had law enforcement done their job and held fast saying he was a criminal and had a lethal amount of fentanyl in his system I don’t think any of it would have happened. Nope white cop kneeling on black man who died got ginned up into riots. They and the media created the storm.

Here’s the video I was talking about above.
Had we known this it would have been different.
So let me see if I understand where you are coming from. The cops had a handcuffed man in a car and already ready to transport him. They pulled him out and while he remained handcuffed placed him to the ground and applied the weight of their bodies on his lungs, and neck and the rest of his body so he had no ability to fight for his life. And at no time attempted to check up on his complaints of he can't breathe. You propose they have a right to do this because it's dept policy?

How does any or all of his prior arrest change that moment? How does any amount of lying change that moment? Cops have a responsibility to subdue and transport for holding. Until a trial happens. Not decide to take a cuffed and subdued individual, regardless of what a scumbag they are, and essentially decide they can kill him at will.

The courts system certainly needs to do better at adjudicating these scumbags. But it's not, nor ever was the right, responsibility or trained culture for the cops to be judge, jury, and executioner.

I may not like it, in fact I know I don't. But George Floyd, and every other scumbag like him, are protected by the Constitution. If the cops get the choice to decide who is and who isn't, you or I could be next on their list. I'm sorry but we need to protect ourselves from the Cops, more than we do a George Floyd. And if letting a scumbag walk free again is what it cost. I'll pay it.

Sexual identity is a tough subject for a lot of people, that said, my point is that social justice and equality must be recognized as the resulting oppression is a stubborn resistance. To equate the words activism and extremism is my opinion is draconian. A negative connotation of the ill used term woke should not exist just because one doesn’t agree with one aspect, one basically later added to the meaning.

His prior behavior simply shows a pattern of defiance and stupidity when confronted by police. Was he in the car or did he say he was claustrophobic and struggled with them when they tried to put him in the car? I thought it was that way and they never got him in it.
Kneeling on his neck to gain control was dept policy. One they were trained on. The chief flat out lied and said he wasn’t familiar with it. That was gas on an already burning fire. The coroner said if he had encountered Floyd dead anywhere else based upon the amount of drugs in his system he would have ruled it an over dose. That info was also not shared with the world or in court.
It was all done to further an anti-cop narrative and fueled the defund police movement.
Here’s how it should have been reported ‘a repeat offender high on fentanyl died while struggling with police. Next story’. Color never should have been a factor but it was. Saying ‘I can’t breathe’ is one of the oldest cries they do.

Would you prefer ‘lefty looney’? :)

If a cop can't learn how to deal with a defiant citizen that doesn't require killing them, we have bigger problems than the drug cocktail someone has inside them.

I've had a knee in my upper back. It is meant to subdue. And it works fantastically. You let up when that submission takes place. You don't place more force and look into the camera while doing so.

Never the less, long story short he’d probably still be alive if he had complied.
He brought his demise upon himself. And for that I have no pity or sympathy.
There may have been some things cops could have and should have done differently.
But all those actions were brought about by him.
