MotoGP 2023

I find like Formula 1 racing, I don't relate to Moto GP at all......it's starting to turn into being more about the riders than the bikes.....and the the riders are getting more and more like "prima donnas" than hard core riders. I liked the old days where the riders were on the ragged edge.

I like SBK but even in that the manufacturers are getting fewer and fewer.....but at least the riders are on the ragged edge still...

Isle of Mann is pretty cool to watch....
 
I think only one rider is trying to make it about him and that dominates the news. Otherwise, the racing is pretty good, especially the sprints. That's racing in the purest sense IMHO. I can see Yamaha crying because they don't have the funding others do to take on new challenges. Motorcycle aero is way overdue, BTW. But Honda has no excuse other than they let MM design a bike that no one can ride and now that the other manufacturers are getting really good, the basic flaws of the Honda can't be overcome, even by MM.

Jack was right, those riders need to shut the f' up and race. Remember when the Ducati was an unrideable dog?

I thought this was interesting. I went and grabbed a screenshot of my earlier post of the 2023 KTM RC16 at the beginning of the season, compare to Binders Bike today at Silverstone. The rapid evolution of the Aero package is pretty evident here.

The pursuit of aero and downforce in MotoGP makes the bikes look uglier in my opinion. Although I imagine BMW will sell all of the M1000RR’s easy enough even with the massive front aero.
 
So Zarco took the leap to LCR Honda to backfill Rins vacant seat, it sounds like Morbidelli (or a less like Bezzechi defection from VR46) may be linked to Zarco's now vacant Pramac Ducati seat and somebody at KTM (or Gas Gas) is inevitably going to get the boot to make room for Pedro Acosta to move up to the big show. Silly season is in full swing now. The teams are going to be faced with some tough decisions in the next few years. There are several veteran riders that might get the boot simply to secure the promising younger riders services down the road. Guys Like the Espargaros', Nakagami, Di Gianntonio, and Raul Fernandez would seem like the logical representatives in that group, but with all the questions surrounding Honda's mess its hard to say. Mir was moaning about retiring, and Marquez has to be on just about everybody's radar if Honda cant right the ship.

Great race today. Fabulous Fabio made the podium even on that sorry azz Yamaha. If he had a winning bike he’d be on the podium more often. Bezzecchi did his job admirably for VR46. His teammate wasn’t present. Poor Bagnaia, it just wasn’t his day. And poor Martin too! The heat exhaustion really got to him. MM crashed which is no surprise even at his slower race pace, but came back to finish 9th.
