MotoGP 2023

A great read. Hint is not quite doing it in this case though! IMO Jarvis should have been gone long ago! How many riders talent has been scuppered by that guy over the years? Rossi, Lorenzo, Spies etc. I would be unsurprised to see both Morbidelli and Quartararo (though he is still under contract for 24) leave! The bike is the worst on the grid now; at least the Honda is relatively fast!

Who would be dumb enough to leave KTM, Aprilia or Ducati for that? Maybe one of the Honda boys...

If my boss talked about me the way Lin talks about Morbidelli I would be packing my bags. It's a pretty easy move given how the M1 as a competitive MotoGP bike is done. You have to think Yamaha has a V4 in the garage that just wasn't ready for this season. Otherwise, why would anyone waste their talent fighting to not finish last?

It would be pretty cool to see a V4-based bike built from scratch for aerodynamics, launch, and wheelie control. I still think coming up with a super cooling system is the next big step. Remember the twin radiators placed on the sides of the NR750? Imagine getting rid of the slab radiator and the open engine compartment.

Anyway, whose year is Marquez going to end tomorrow? The guy has become a Simoncelli on the track, and he would wipe out half the field to not surrender Germany!

I don't think I have seen a worse bike than the Honda. Marquez crashed 4 times last weekend, two of which were seriously hard crashes. The Honda has become a window maker, sidelining Mir, Rins, and Marquez. Honda has a reputation for looking at riders as disposable but this is as close to a total meltdown as I've seen. Even worse than the unrideable Ducati Rossi tried to tame. And Honda seems to be saying we aren't going to do anything. Interestingly, this shows the value of MotoGP to these factories. Honda has access to F1 aerodynamic technology but still doesn't seem to want to spend the money developing it.

I could definitely see both Honda and Yamaha just choosing to pack it in. They could focus on superbike where they would be developing streetable technology.

The way I see it is that MM rides beyond the Honda’s capabilities (and his). You’d think he’d learned by now that 60+ degrees is too far for a motorcycle to lean. He’s crashed out so often that it’s a joke. His last one saw him limping away and had a broken finger. His injuries had to be pretty severe (not just a broken finger) for Honda to set him down missing the race. He’s obviously a danger to himself and the other riders.

Add Taka Nakagami to that list he's always walking wounded...

I remember when they had Casey Stoner in to evaluate the Honda even he said waaay back then that it wasnt right and he left
soon after cause Honda 'wasnt listening'. Marc and Honda have only themselves to blame for where they are now i reckon.
I wonder why to with Honda in F1 and Indy car that the combined aero knowledge isnt better utilised in MGP.

I think Marc wanted the Honda "unstable", sort of like the F-16 fighter. He is one of the lightest riders and that means the bike is just a little less unstable for him (and Pedrosa). It means he can do Superman moves on the track and that nobody else can ride it. The problem is as the other bikes get better and better, so now it's down to Marc going on a suicide run and it's failing miserably. Now Honda is left with a useless bike and a broken-down Marc too. What a mess....

I wonder if Honda could get permission to run their old bike. The current bike is too dangerous to ride and it's putting everyone in jeopardy. I know there are things that can't be changed during the season for factory bikes (engine spec.s, aero, etc.), but this is sort of an emergency isn't it?

He actually crashed 5 times. 4 during practice and qualifying and once on the morning of the race during warmup. Between him and the bike there is something seriously wrong.

my friend and I were talking this weekend at what point is Marc to expensive for all of the crashing/is the unpredictable or unstable Honda not worth his quality of life or injury potential anymore? I understood those dudes are built different but it’s a lot easier to limp when you’re winning…. Or at least finishing a session.

MM's goal in life has been to pass Rossi as the all-time champ. He has ridden with super high risk his entire career (and has gotten away with it until recently) to pass Rossi. He even blocked Rossi from getting another championship on track! Basically, MM will do absolutely anything to win. So all the crashes only tell him he needs a Ducati or an Aprilla, not that it's time to quit. The question is has his time passed by? No one will pay him what Honda pays him and his stay at Honda has proven that making a bike for only him is a dead end eventually. I believe MM can win on anything he can finish a race on. But it's clear that MM only cares about that last championship and is that really worth it to any factory?

Even when his bike and him were doing fine he wasn’t leading. I think his time has passed. There are faster people on track now. He won’t win another championship on any bike.

True. I think when he was winning all the championships the field was a lot slower. I kind of think no rider can dominate like that anymore, even Pecco on the desmo.

He’s already crashed in practice. Lost the front and slid out. Limped away but he was probably limping when he started. He said his ribs are really hurting. Wonder what Honda is paying him (and) what are they spending on fairings and other parts.

The MM crash today was not the bike. Look at the replay and MM isn't even looking where he is going when he runs into the back of the Ducati. This is coming unglued really really fast. Lucky for Honda this is the last race before the break. If this was the military they would call a safety standdown. Wow, what a mess.

Geebus! How did Marc get that contract? Rossi needs to bump his rider’s salary. And what’s the ‘break’ for, so Marc can heal? Here’s the 2023 salaries.

Of all those riders Maverick has the best manager surely ?? I mean he is just no where compared to Aleix who really lays it on the line for 'Prillia.

Going by what we've seen so far this year Bezzecchi is the biggest loser salary wise.

The 'Break' is the usual one they have mid season.

Honda are clearly rooted and if i were Mir or Alex id be looking at the 'out' clause and look at nicking Morbidellis factory seat for next year, sure its not that good of a bike but its a factory one.

Marc needs to bail and see if he can get an 'Prillia ride of some sort (like Pramac thats gets a 23 machine like Pecco&Enea)

All the noise atm is Pedro Acosta demanding a GP seat next year and why not he's like the next MM coming thru the ranks, some tough choices for KTM to make for sure.
