MotoGP 2024

Let me just say that Puig is right up there with Lin Jarvis as far as most useless team managers go, but he does have a good point here. Mir has been openly venting his spleen to the press about how bad the Honda is, and in my opinion he may just wind up retiring, because who would want him at this point? You are a factory MotoGP rider, a position most young racers would kill for! I think back to Vinales blowing up his Yamaha on purpose a few years back. I thought then that he was finished (and he probably should have) but he has looked good on the Aprilia recently. I think Mir will have a hard time trying to find a competitive ride after this one.

Saw this tonight. Binder at Mugello last year. Will they break 370 this weekend? The bikes are faster, the new Michelin rear is grippier and Mugello awaits friday!

Wow! Almost 228 mph…lap after lap after lap. It’s hard to get my head around running up to that kind of speed and micro seconds later, braking hard and taking a corner for 20+ laps! In a crowd even or with one following you!

Last time I watched the NHRA I noticed the fuelers are almost to the 340 mph mark and that’s in just a thousand feet!

Getting interesting now. Marquez says he won't go to Pramac, no sense in going from a satellite team to another.
Interesting perspective.

Due to his legacy, I believe Marc is very popular and has a bigger fan base than just about any other contender right now. So from an advertising return on investment point of view, he would be the factory team's best choice in my opinion. But that is just my opinion, will be interesting to see where this goes.

Pramac is a good team but I agree with MM, factory or stay put. Pramac hasn’t yet confirmed they’ll stay with Ducati although it’s likely they will. MM, with his talent, should be able to choose the team he wants.

The contract negotiations must be absolutely cutthroat right now! I honestly don't see Marquez going to the Factory Ducati squad, too many moving parts there as far as personalities, sponsorships etc. I have been pondering what would happen if Marquez suddenly wound up with a truckload of Repsol cash... They are leaving Honda for dead and Marc surely sold a lot of their product over the years. Food for thought.

Good Sprint today despite the up front and almost up front crashes. MM stayed up once again (shock) and took his 5th 2nd place Sprint race finish this year. He mentioned that the Bagman might be just a lil faster as an explanation. Fabio Q certainly didn’t deserve being taken out like that. In NASCAR that woulda just been rubbin. Pecco, the Bagman, won but I hadn’t realized that he hadn’t won a Sprint race since last year. Acosta was in position again to take another 3rd place for GasGas. Hopefully he can stay upright more than not and he just might be making himself a career. I’m surprised at Bezzecchi finishing so poorly. He (was) doing way better just a little while ago. His rookie teammate is doing better. WTH, last years bike? MM seems to be able to ride last years bike. Here’s Acosta sliding from right to left as he enter a corner and then accelerating out. Look where his left thigh is in the last two pics, and where he’s looking. Anyone ride parallel with your bike lately?

I think Marcs on GP22.5 so doing really well, notice all the GP23 riders are struggling big time with Michys new front tyre.

Acosta is totally embarrassing Binder & Miller and deserves everything on offer, just look at the way he flings that GasGas around and his cornering prowess for a first year big bike rider is stunning.

Bit of a processional race once again today. Towards the end it looked like Bastianini was maybe holding up Marquez. Marc finally got past him, but then with 2 laps to go he pulled the pin and took Marc and Jorge! Good for him, I like him and the championship needs a few more like him. The startling thing about this race is that they were something on the order of 25 seconds faster than last year! Marquez was actually~23 seconds faster than Bagnaia's winning time from last year on the same bike! That is a quantum leap! If Ducati doesn't give him (and Bastianini!) equal equipment next season, he'll be doing this for another manufacturer, and I highly doubt they want that! I heard rumblings about Ducati possibly fielding a 5th GP25 next year for just such a scenario, but its just some journalists pipe dream right now I think. Marquez bike was smoking the rear tire repeatedly coming out of the last corner, he addressed it after the race saying it was just the 23 bike is on the limit as far as the rear ride height device and it allows the rear tire to rub the fender under heavy load, said it didn't affect his race.

Acosta, once again flying the flag for KTM to finish top 5, while his teammates flounder. Makes me wonder if KTM will take a run at one of the fast guys orphaned by Ducati to put on the Gas Gas squad. Another rumor I heard was that KTM may shutter the GAS GAS squad and just have 4 factory KTM's, again more journalist pipe dream stuff, but interesting to think about.

Joe Roberts did himself a solid with his weekend in Italy, setting Pole and winning the race in front of the Trackhouse boss! First time since Schwantz in 1993 that an American has won there! With he and Ogura rumored to be moving to MotoGP next year along with Aldeguer the future looks pretty bright.
