MYTHOS went down hard

Sorry to hear about this mythos but glad its not any worse mate My greatest fear is hitting a kangaroo on a bike That would not be a pleasant experience I would imagine Kangaroos are a bit of a pest here at the moment as they seem to be everywhere take care I hope you heal up soon

This really reinforces my full gear all the time policy when I ride...even if it's hot out I wear full gear..

I got sloppy and wear a set of shorty, non armored gloves when it's hot...that is going to change and change quickly....

I was even considering going back to a set of leathers but at my aged body I might look like a sausage in them...

I believe you can get this all over the counter, it doesn't need a prescription. This first, Aquaphor last.

Layer it on liberally. Cover it with gauze. You can order it from Walmart, or just go down there. Good stuff.

I wear Joe Rocket Ballistic pants (7.0 I think). They are cheap and cool to me. They are heat resistant down low so hot pipes and such are less of a problem. Best of all, I rubbed them on the road for about 50 feet at 70 mph and didn't get a scratch or burn. I actually wear them with suspenders. Get a size big enough for underclothes and they work year-round. They have CE armor on knees and hips, On my 4th pair.

If you treat those wounds yourself they are going to leave big scars. I never cared about that so my legs look like I'm a burn victim, lol! You hit that deer right though. They say if you are going to hit a deer aim for the rear end. Amazing how much damage though, must have been the slide.

I wear Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants....with suspenders......I'm on my 3rd set...love 'em.

I had to treat them myself, with a bit of help from the burn unit at UMC (Insurance covered the visits). You can still see the scars, but I'm not a fashion model. Each year they fade a bit.....with these products it really accelerated the healing, and kept the wounds clean and infection free.

I was wearing early JR issue mesh and it went right through back in 2014. I believe the current JR is better. I always wear gear, but the collar bone break was all courtesy of good brain protection. Not saying a have a whole lot, but it saved what I do have....

I used to enjoy wearing all my gear when it fit me. I thought it was cool and I didn't care if anybody else thought I looked like a circus clown. Big white boots, black and white leathers with gauntlet gloves, and the white helmet. I wore it every ride. Now I can't button the pants. I wish I had bought one of those zip-in fly inserts to add a few inches to the waist because I really needed it a couple day back. i had perffed leather and I found it cool enough even on 90 degree days.

Gloves? You can see gloves are very important. I had on some light moto cross gloves with no armor and they were almost as thin as biking shorts--basically nothing. They were still on me when I woke up but they didn't do much for the more vulnerable parts of my hands. Helmet---thank my god I had that on, I almost never go without unless it's a quick "listen for weird noises" run after a chain lube or something. 225 feet without that helmet---parts of my face would be gone. I slid down the road 225 feet---I might be dead or worse, laying a vegetable on life support. My brain would have been battered to pulp.

Weird the instrument cluster broke off. The top fairing stay too. I wish I could have noted where those pieces came to lay. I wonder if the deer busted right through the fender, cowl and instrument cluster and hit me? The soar ribs both sides beloe my pecs tells me I hit the clipons probably. I have no bruising on this area though, just sore.

You hit that deer right though. They say if you are going to hit a deer aim for the rear end.
LOL all luck, again.

Yeah, I'm not handsome anymore so i don't care too much. A little more ugly can't hurt!

I was wearing a padded mesh jacket with leather arms. Goes to show that's a hell of a lot better than nothing. I'm really glad I had the leather arms though. Wish I woulda had some of that on my hands.

I will get pics of the clothes in a while and show them.

So the report as of day 3:

*Mostly dry scabbing, A couple leaking spots still.

*Lots of pain last night duh--I slept in my jogging pants I wore to go out in public. Shorts are much less painful. Took 6 ibuprofenn. Probably helped but I never took 6 before. Four but not 6. Probably not good to take that much.

*Woke with purple ring under my right eye. No swelling or soreness, was not in a fight, vision is normal. Could have been the ibuprofen blood pressure spike?

*Squeezed my right big toe and a puddle of blood juice came out. May be partially detached nail. Not going to inspect too closely because I don't want to bend my knee that far. No real pain or swelling of the toe.

*Small chip out of lower front tooth. Now matches my other front lower teeth.

*Ribs still soar, more on the left. Better though.

* Very slight soarness in right wrist when I hyperextend it. Also slight soarness to right middle knuckle. Still have swelling of the top of right hand. I probably fell on my right hand. Thank god -- probably fell off the RH side of the bike away from deer. Had I gone over the left, I would have tumbled over the weeds and flipped like the bike did. I would have had busted bones for sure. Man, I was lucky.

I may have missed it but just how much damage did your helmet suffer?

Gloves, looks like the light leather palms helped a lot, right is in worse shape front and back. It wore through but I have no palm wounds at all. That leather is so light I wasn't even aware it was leather until now. The fingers are not a lot more than mesh but they hve some thickness to them. Thank god I at least had these on. I'll never ride again without armored leather gloves.

Jacket, I see nary a scratch on the back, maybe one run in the fabric. The hump looks untouched. The front doesn't even look real bad. This must be slippery poop. The left upper arm pad and shoulder pad ripped but no injuries there.

Pants, looks like I went for a ride on my ass for a little ways. These pants were not that old and the seams weren't tattered like that. Sure glad they held up as long as needed because I would not want rash on each butt cheek like my knees. Obviously most damage occurred to the front and a tad worse to the right than the left. Shoes you see too. Right blew the laces off and has two slits worn in the toe. I do have a minor scrape
on my right pinky toe and the nail jammed on the right big toe. My god I'm so glad that right shoe stayed on.

and the one you've been waiting for, the helmet. The ventilation door up front smashed off, probably first contact with pavement. Worst abrasion and most prolonged to the RH front of shield and also to the RH side of chin guard. Back RH ridge of helmet scuffed. No other damage to back of helmet at all. LH side of helmet and shield, more minor. Shield was not locked and did not come open.

I know I saw the deer on the road in the lane I as traveling in. I veered left to allow space, she crossed in front of me...basically committed suicide, poor animal, I really do feel for her but she eliminated herself from the gene pool. Glad she didn't take me with her. I remember hitting her in her left side near the hind end. I was sitting upright, I remeber seeing her tan fur to the left on the top fairing. Boom BOOM out went the lights! That was my last memory before waking up.

Based on all the evidence we have now, I believe the deer's hind end came up under the nose of the bike shattering the fairing, lights and taking out the instrument cluster too. The fairing stay/multimeter bracket bracket on the 14 is very sturdy. It held and sliced into her RH hind quarter...that's the only explanation because I hit her left side. The left hind quarter would face up if she turned a bit in the air after the collision and the bracket would be right there to slice in and I thank god again I never installed those aluminum bolts I had for that bracket. They might have sheered sending the deer and the bracket right into my chest. The aluminum bolts I used for the fairing stay (shaped like a set of cow antlers) did sheer. The tip over sensor wire might have prevented it from hitting me or maybe it did hit me in the lower chest. I have those bruised ribs right below my pecs.

The steering would probably have veered hard left sending me into a hard RH lowside. That looks like what happened from the skid marks. The bike immediately fell to the right after only 12 feet of hard braking.

I face planted on the chin guard busting off the vent door. Probably knocked out instantly which would explain no memory of the fall. Head turned to my left as I would expect. Right hand hit palm first about the same time as my helmet. Right arm went under my torso explaining the tattered jacket sleeve, much more serious right hand knuckle skin abrasions and relative lack of damage to the front of the jacket. There's no real damage to the front right of the jacket because my arm was under it. I slid limp down the road and I rolled, probably as I slowed down to a stop. No explanation for lack of damage to the back of the jacket, from the pants, I slid sideways on my arse and I can't see how I would have sat up. My body also turned 90 degrees as my feet were facing the bike when I awoke face up. I was very thirtsy. Probably from loss of blood and making the plasma that was oozing out. I could have layed there a while. The kid who found me must have called the ambulence. The ambulance from 30 miles away was there only minutes after I woke up.

My question is WTF didn't the rescue squad in my town respond? 10 miles away. No biggy because I didn't need them but still!
