(Revlis @ Oct. 27 2006,14:06) I appreciate your faith in my mechanical prowess VA, But...  Do you remember who I wanted to help me with Lilahs first Home oil change?

Yeah, building a kit car would cost me a fortune, and take a few months.

But it's not a bad idea again for a future second car.  I really am after more of a GT/Sports Coupe I think.  I gotta have room for golf clubs and some kind of backseat...  He he, thats how I roll...

OH the "CS" is mearly an option in 2007.  For like $1800 you get a different front and rear Bumper, 18" polished alloys, heated seats, and some tape stripes.  Really thats about it.

Stock Mustang GT makes 300HP,  The GT500 makes 500HP or close to it, and I have been reading that 400RWHP is pretty easy and affordable outta the GT's 3 valve 4.6 liter V-8.
Aww, I have complete faith in you!  Hell, if I can learn to do that, why not?  LOL

Just something I tossed out there since you don't really seem to need that high-priced luxury vehicle for the small trips you take to and from work
biggrin.gif
And the kit is under $13,000...add in the price of some banged up donor car with a good motor, slap on some paint and voila!
biggrin.gif

Seriously, I'm not swaying you from the shiny new Mustang just 'cause I want one...I'm not the jealous type

(Juggler @ Oct. 27 2006,01:35) Revlis,

I've never met you, but you don't strike me as an RX-8 type of person. I see you being more of a Mustang person.

Wait... Should I be offended here?

All right Rev, check this out.

What do you do to your Busa when the seat ain't right?
You Tobin it!

What do you do when you're used to all that power your Busa makes?
You turbo it!

The answer to your dilemna is quite clear to me!

Fix the seat, then...

How about it, eh?

did I mention a BMW?  Rev - you got the money... stop messin' around.

j/k - I can't wait to see what you decide to get.  The shopping is the best part. Give feedback on everything you test drive and don't spare the details.

I know you're not much into GM but dang, that new Camaro coming out next year looks smokin' hot.

Still, there won't be an aftermarket for mods right away. It will probably be much more than 35K (dammit, GM, when will you learn!). It's still untested on the street so it's risky to not know about potential problems in advance.

(If you can, get one of those wenches you were talking about. Still, they cost more on maintenance too!

)

You also said, "Fun with room for a couple of buddies and a set of golf clubs," but I dunno. I sat in one a while back and it was rather cramped in my opinon.

Still, the damn things look good. Took a while to grow on me and now I like 'em a lot. Can't say the same for that crappy new Dodge Charger. Blech. Just don't like the 'Stangs nearly as much as my Z28! I will say, I've never had major problems with the Camaro in 135K+ miles.

Sorry bro, real Mustang guys ONLY use ATI Procharger... SON!!!
If you say so.... But we all know you're kidding because you know better than that.... Don't hate me because you bought the wrong blower.

Actually I am thinking I'd probably buy a Whipple or maybe a Saleen Blower. From the video clips I have seen and heard on the web the Pro-Chargers are all too noisy... I want to be able to hear the Blower, I believe that is part of the fun, but from what I heard the Pro-charger are a little too much.

I want to be able to Hear it, but I don't want to live it.

SO, I will probably be after a Whipple or some other blower, roots or centrifugal.

Rev...we can agree to disagree wether or not the Audi compares to the BMW....I know the facts...and you know where I work! haha!

With that said, we almost took in an '07 GT 'stang today.... car was very cool. I was eyeballing it for my next demo. Unfortunately, the owner was a bit upside down...so the deal did not come together...

I think you are on the right track. The Mustang is easy to upgrade...seriously fun...and looks dam good.

Get what you want man....

One thing I do worry about with buying a Mustang is that I had BETTER BE CERTAIN before I buy. Cause if I end up changing my mind with a mustang I'll be SOL...

You know I really do like the RX-8. I've embarrased a good many imports and a few domestics out there in the twisties and it is still just a seriously fun car to drive.

SO say I get the Seating worked out, then it simply comes down to power, or lack of power that I find frustrating. While there may be an answer for the lack of power in the form a forced induction the nature of the Renesis rotary has me wondering about reliability under boost. If it was really that simple and reliable Mazda would allready be boosting it from the factory, or at least have it available as an option.

So even though I love the character and high revving nature of the motor I don't see any way around it's lack of grunt and power.

The way I see it, I'll have a much easier time getting a mustang to handle and steer better than I will getting an RX8 to put down real HP.

You said it right there....and you are right. (IMO)

Besides...just like on two wheels...it is mostly driver anyway. Very few drivers really know how to handle thier cars. So you'll be toastin' those same dudes in the 'Stang.

Besides....as much of a german car fan as I am.....I still say there is nothing like the sound of a well tuned American V-8. The Mustang should be fun to steer with the throttle!!

Hahaha... I never actually looked at the specs and just remember, quite vividly, an ad campaign touting the Procharger as the ultimate centrifugal blower. Of course this was way back in the Fox body 5.0 heyday..

just a thought Rev-

staying under $35 k, with over 280hp, and solid build, decent resale, comfortable seating for 4- look at the Dodge Charger or 300C (unless you think Chyrslers are all icky too). You can get a used one for well under, oooooorrrrrrr...spring some extra duckets for an SRT8-the Charger will set you back just over $35, but your getn leather/suede interior, a NICE sport-shift automatic, very comfy seating for four adults, Brembo brakes, oh-did i mention the azz-pounding 425horse 6.1L?? The only down-side to these cars is the 4-door look if you're more of a coupe guy...then they are icky.

was guna suggest the Evo, but if thats too Ricery, try an old M3-you already said you like'em, and most first-time owners take great care of them so you should'nt run into too many maint. issues with one-I'd go back to the E36 chassis-IMO the best one they made. The new body looks great, but lost alot of leg n headroom-my buddy test-drove a '04 n he's only 6'3" and it was cramped for him...the older car has more room, just as much class n there's hella mods out there fo it-just read an article in Turbo Mag. with an E36 M3 runnin turbo with over 1000hp TO THE WHEELS!!! a lil extreme, but gives you an idea of the power potential.

good luck with the hunt, and keep us posted, brutha Rev!
(i'll bet you could put a few guns in the trunk of a 300C-I fit every piece we used for our wedding decorations in there, plus food, overnite clothes, table setting stuff, and the leftover cake from dinner!)

I drove a Charger RT. It was pretty nice but they are big cars. Not the end of the world but not really what I am after.

Hell I've mentioned it before when I have come to the Board with this sort of "PROBLEM"
smile.gif
I am after input and suggestions. The response I got this time with the Mustang was pretty positive and I am looking pretty hard. I am having problems though with the depreciation. I know cars are not investments but jeez, the Mustang drops pretty fast.

I am not all that excited about buying brand new either. I am not a fan so perhaps a used 330, or Audi may be the way to go. I also came across an 03 Mercedes CLK 430 that might be just the ticket.

I go back and forth, part of me really wants a toy, something to modify and tweek (Mustang). Part of me just wants a reliable car thats also fast and fun (BMW). Then there is also part of me that says spending money on a nice car is just throwing money down the drain and not worth the expense, just a waste. I should just buy a simple runabout and be done with it... I have lots of hobbies, and spending less on transportation would free up more money for guns and other toys.

SOOoOoOooo.... One way or another I believe the RX is gone, not for certain but pretty likely. I'm going to take my time as well. There is no real hurry, I've got a car that works.

This should be fun, not work. I'm going to make sure I drive more cars this time.
