Just curious. What would it cost to "level 1" turbo my bike? Some type of DIY package that includes most everything for the upgrade? I do the labor.

If u got the cash, buy a rcc turbo kit new, install yourself.

Buy once cry once, then giggle like a schoolgirl every time u twist the throttle

Yes, there would be a 'flapper' rubber door over the air inlet if it was not.

Not really
You can put in alot of effort to completely seal the ram-air, but for a street bike, and one that may see rain(the inlet tubes have small water drain holes), it is a small gain that you will not notice.
You can buy the new airbox foam from Partzilla, they have a sticky tape side, and you can glue the ends together with superglue.
It's cheap and easy.
This is my '03 Gsxr1k's airbox, and you can see that the foam had rotted away.
