Russia and Ukraine

With any technology, there are or will be countermeasures which eventually will render them useless...

The US (and certain other western nations) have this technology but it is finite and all encompassing and not enemy specific.....so it's the sort of technology that isn't mainstream.

Drones get it done though.....
Watch the videos or some of the links in that channel. What the tech has come to is truly insane.

I've watched a lot of first person videos and I agree, there's some serious tech coming out of that conflict of which I can guarantee that there are nerds working on countermeasures as I type this.....

I've seen mobile anti-drone countermeasure units in use with US special forces.....these units were pretty effective.

A lot of the tech given to Ukraine was not the cutting edge level...

The unit I was in used cutting edge tech which was not even close to getting out to conventional forces at the time...it was like science fiction...

I wonder how future near-peer wars will shape up.....I know China is feverishly developing tech in order to fight the west...

Capturing the ukraine? That was never the stated goal, except in the American Media which lies about everything now. The goals I read were to liberate the russian speaking regions to the East, prevent it from joining NATO, and denazify the place. Regardless of how truthful they were, those stated aims are largely achieved. Capture the place? To what end? It's not like there is anything of value there for Russia. For Western Europe which is going down the gurgler, sure, but Russia doesn't need it.

And the North Korean's are getting slaughtered like sheep. I'll say 1 thing.

This conflict has certainly exposed how poor the Russian ground forces are.

And how resourceful and tactical the Ukrainian have been. I never expected to see $2K drones taking out multimillion dollar targets.

It's said that Russia is running out of tanks. And can't produce them fast enough.

And that Bradley fighting vehicle is making a name for itself!

The Ukraines have a lot of western help in developing tactics and equipment.....

Western special forces are directly involved in what is happening in Ukraine.

The Bradley did well in the first invasion of Iraq as well...

It did poorly in the second invasion mostly because it was in cities and vulnerable.....it does best in concealed, or open terrain.

Yes but the low tech approach they use for drone techniques has been pretty astonishing.

Something western forces taught them....

The Ukrainian military was junk before the west started working with them over a decade ago.....
In that case the Russians appear to be a lot more bark than bite then. Cuz the Ukrainian are more than holding their own against the biggest foe we were supposed to have.

Agreed.....

Russia screwed this invasion up from the get-go......

They didn't destroy/secure any airfields, rail yards, major hiways, supply hubs or communication systems.....

The first rule(s) of an invasion is to shut down the enemies eyes and ears and gain air superiority....they (Russians) failed in all these tasks...

In the same breath....all we hear about is Russian losses......Ukraine is almost out of troops.....

It's certainly been a war of attrition. And it's ripe for peace.

@Bumblebee really doest get much more vivid than this. H2H knives out.
Brutal then respect. Watch the video clip in article
War isn't pretty and close up fighting is even less so....

Shame on them for broadcasting this video.....I'm sure the Ukrainian soldier's family didn't need this to be aired....

Media has been glorifying war forever. I for sure understand your pov but this one is no differnent than drone hunters blowing people up. What's different is the up close bad breath respect that came after they both knew it was over. Those two could be best friends if their leaders had not set them opposed.

I'm not sure media has been glorifying it, there was a time when they reported it but had to put a positive spin on it to keep morale up at home...

I recall one time talking to the family of a fallen member of my unit and one of his team members who was with him was explaining what happened at their request...

The look of utter sadness on their faces was something I will never forget....I can only imagine what those expressions would be at the sight of such a video....

Agreed, remembering that Putin forced it.
I can imagine the response if someone came onto U.S. soil militarily.
This invasion was a long time coming, all the signs were there but were all ignored.

The Wagner group was in the disputed regions fighting Ukrainian forces for over a decade...

NATO had advisors and trainers in the region at the time guiding the Ukrainian forces in their defensive and offensive objectives...

Most likely Putin saw this as NATO incursion in the region and acted in an (overly) aggressive manner....I think he thought the Russians would be seen as liberators and this is why they failed the invasion so badly.

Doesn't change the fact that Putin is the cause behind the invasion and subsequent killing, from the beginning. Zelenskyy was aware but what would you have done? It's not like he was dealing with a reasonable entity.

Zelensky didn't prepare his military nor did he reinforce his borders....nor did the NATO troops who were in Ukraine at the time raise any alarms to their leadership.

There probably was a lot of back and forth behind the scenes we aren't privy to....

If I were the leader of a country where an imminent invasion was possible, I'd be going to either the UN or the League of Nations....

Zelenskyy inherited this mess. Within a year of him being in office, Ukraine became a NATO Advanced Opportunity Partner and has lobbied to join outright. He has been intricately involved.
