Russia and Ukraine

Posts like I see on these threads sure don't make me want to run down to the US and take up residency....

From your own admission you belong to many other forums...you must have either pissed them all off or they are all of a like ideology for you to find the need to spread this sort of ideology to us here.

Unless you've spent time in a country where there are no civil liberties or any sort of governmental protection, you will never get the privilege of where you currently live.

All these poor first world people and their horrible lives makes me really wonder sometimes.

Keep the Covid crap where it belongs, there are several thread for that talk already.

This could be Russia's in.....if the world buys into this that is....

If Russia were smart, they'd bring in NATO observers and thus justify their actions in Ukraine.

If we recall the US did a similar ploy to invade Iraq-claiming there were WMD which proved false.

It's pretty easy to find mass graves I thought. Sniffer drones could help too. You can see areas disturbed on that scale pretty easy and with ground radar, you could see bodies I'm sure. All that can be done from above with fly-overs.

They are normally well concealed....the one I found was under a lot of tree cover in a natural ravine, you would have had to stumble on it like I did to find it, no aircraft would ever have been able to spot it.

In some places you would be able to spot mass grave sites if you know what you are looking for...in the desert for instance, the constant wind and shifting sand conceals them very well until the sand shifts away from them exposing the cadavers.

If Russia is using this as a preclude to an invasion, one would think they would be clearly identifying this and getting western buy in especially with all the saber rattling of late.

The ground radar we used to scan a site for archeological artifacts showed everything under the ground organic or metal. They just flew over the site a couple of times. Seems like that would do it.

Would the operators need to know the basic area to search? Does it have a wide sweep?

LIDAR
is amazing technology.
Do some reading on it, cool stuff.
It is rewriting history in South America.
They have found huge cities buried under centuries of jungle growth, and consitant with records written by priests traveling with the Conquistadors(previously thought to not be true).
Who knows what can be found globally with it. And if Joe Average can buy it; how much better is the government's version?(you should be able to relate to that).

I didn't think was detailed enough to find such things as a mass grave site...

I do know there have been a few incidents where these mass grave sites have been located in large buildings such as stadiums (Sarajevo for instance).

It is now.
The public versions won't visibly display bodies(yet), but the operators know what they are looking at based on the size and scale.

Yes. We were looking for trash piles, boat remains, and stuff. A real mass grave would have a pretty big signature I would think.

Also since it's in Ukraine our military could survey it. On the other hand, I'm sure a rat doesn't take a poop in Ukraine now without a US satellite watching so they may already know if it's true or not.

Either way, if Russia was smart they'd get western buy in before going in...however we all know the answer to the question of..........does Russia care what the west thinks....

Analysts have pointed out the Russians have tried almost every other tactic to take over the Ukraine short of physical force.

It's kind of interesting. I think Putin wanted to see if Biden would just let him take the Ukraine. Then Biden jumped in to gather the NATO brotherhood. I don't think Putin expected Biden to be on top of things and face him down. Now Putin is stuck between a rock and a hard place. They told him flat out that they would not make any concessions on NATO countries.

It's a brilliant strategy on Biden's part to make public Putin's every move along with his strategy. So now when Putin makes a move, we already have the upper hand on the propaganda side.

So Putin can't say he did this to stop NATO expansion and claim to be a genius. Now it looks like Putin can either go in or back down, both bad choices. Now, this crimes against humanity thing come up. Why didn't Putin say that in the first place? Basically, Putin is looking for a way out. On top of that, he actually is wagging the dog for Biden, who has awful poll numbers.

Interesting to see where this goes. IS Putin man enough to go into Ukraine? I personally think there are some scary things we put in there to destroy Russian hardware, just like they did to us (and we to them) in Afghanistan. Hopefully, these guys can play this game without it getting out of control though. So many wars start with tit-for-tat skirmishes.

PS: Do you know what really brought the Soviet Union down? It was wasting money and lives in Afghanistan. Go back and read about Charlie Wilson's war and how we armed the Talibon (I think) to fight the Russians to a stalemate. Back home in Russia, there was nearly a revolution and eventually, the government fell.

The US trained and armed the Mujahedeen...the biggest thing the US gave them was the Stinger missile system.

Many Taliban are still carrying and using Russian weapons left from their time in the sand box.

There are many old broken ex-Soviet vehicles and equipment laying all over the place.

The Ukraine isnt part of NATO otherwise there would be NATO forces at the Ukraine boarder with russia. . Putin isn't playing his cards, he's forcing NATO into playing their cards. This is strategy the Russian way he's just an A hole. This is just what the big 3 bullies do, what they do best thowing their weight around at someone else's expence
