Russia and Ukraine

In any way one looks at this war, there are no winners....

Ukraine will cease to exist and basically Russia will also in the eyes of most countries...they will still have their fringe partners but will have no real teeth anymore. I think Putin is finished as a leader....he might be ruling with an iron fist for now but like all maniacal dictators, they get over thrown eventually.....

The iron curtain will go back up but this time, there won't be a Warsaw Pact to hide behind.

I guess that is one way to say you support Biden. What are the real numbers for how many barrels a day we are buying from Russia ? Is it 209,000 x $115 a barrel? Is that enough chump change to partially support a war effort for Russia? Plus, plenty of other petroleum products are also being bought daily from Russia... Nothing like aiding an enemy committing horrible acts on a neighboring country by doing business with them... is there? Meanwhile Ukraines people are being slaughtered by the shelling in advance of troop movements as Putin's army takes control of more land. The Russian people? How are they suffering other than living under a communist regime? Are they under a multi pronged attack that is laying waste to the land and buildings and the killing of innocent people like we see in Ukraine? Hurting Europe? Those countries have known who Putin is for a long time. They keep climbing in bed with a man that needs to be put to sleep. I wonder if he is listening to his cabinet anymore? We could have helped supply Europe with oil for some time now had the diplomacy been crafted to make it happen.

Biden isn't asking or permitting American oil producers to produce oil domestically... its likely a conflict of interest in some strange way given the history of Biden and the Ukraine when they were involved with Burisma and a billionaire oil man from Russia. It will probably be along time before we ever know what is really going on that was reported by the lying and deceptive MSM.

A lot of wells have already been drilled here in the USA and all that needs to happen with those is for the well heads to be opened and the crude oil hauled to refineries. With the price of oil so high I am sure the oil companies that possess those wells are fully ready to resume production. In the Bakken oil field in North Dakota wells can be drilled in weeks. Multiple wells ( up to 16 ) can be drilled from one location and the rigs are now on skids and can be moved a short distance and multiple wells can be drilled again without rigging down. In the Bakken its not whether or not your going to strike a formation that produces oil... its only a matter of how much each well will produce. On top of that the Bakken field produces the cleanest crude in the world which translates into cheaper production of product and less pollution. We don't need foreign oil... and we don't need to be getting oil from countries that despise us.

My former partner just went back to ND to supply water for frack jobs that are scheduled to begin again. 4 trucks going 6 days a week 20+ hours a day at 145 an hour. Its a feast and famine business with instability happening all to often... getting it while he can.
Lol. You think I like Biden!

I'm merely pointing out that your hatred for Biden makes you blind to facts. Us sanctioning Russian oil does more harm to our allies than to us. I don't care what idiot is in charge, it just helps to look at the bigger picture

Somehow you make that into I like Biden.

Lol.

It's astonishing the mentality of the voting population.

It still astounds me that with all the people you have within the US and very capable and intelligent people yet the last few people who were running for president were well, who they were...Hillary Clinton, Biden, Trump.....are these the best examples of leaders that can be found within the US?

Russian oil is only about 2% of what we buy. Sanctioning it will hurt Europe a LOT more.

If he were smart, he'd be asking all the U.S. energy interest to crank up the shuttered wells here. That will take some time for them to come online. Russia appears to be ready to make this a long game for them.
USA is not immune from global oil prices - oil is a global commodity
as i type Brent crude oil is $125 / barrel Texas WTI $120/barrel

everyone's gas price is gonna rise pretty soon

if you watched the vid that was posted earlier 2014 Ukraine crisis
the speaker gave a good overview on what went wrong

maintain the balance of power - no
NATO Bucharest conference 2008 stated Georgia and Ukraine should join NATO

Putin said no... Georgia kicked off , Russia went in , same now

Prices are up because of uncertainty. Take Russian oil out of the equation and yes it will go even higher. I covered that back at about page 2 if this thread But it then forces Europe to import it from other providers. Driving Thier price even higher. You can't just "turn off" the pipeline until they have a new supply source figured out.

Meanwhile while we have Shell pulling this.

I had hope in Trump. I had hoped he'd stop the spread of cancer. Man was that a disappointment.

I had hope for Obama once.

I agree the U.S. is effed.

The sadder state in America is the blind following of a party candidate. They vote by party not by candidate.

There's so much finger pointing and "anti-the other guy" rhetoric, it wouldn't matter who was in there, they wouldn't be doing their job to satisfy everyone....there are just so many diverse groups within both our countries, you can't lead like was historically done...a certain finesse has to be applied.

This is evident in the Ukraine invasion...Putin is thinking like a Soviet, not a modern Russian....the people of Russia don't want the Soviet empire to return...Putin's reign will soon be finished...you can't stay in power if most of the people are against you in these times...even Russian military members have families who will do quite a bit to sway their ideology....

You can see the Russian soldiers have no real heart in the Ukraine war....it appears to me they are doing the minimal they have to in order to appease their leaders.

This to me is a "no brainer" for Ukraine...they don't control Crimea nor do they really control the two breakaway "provinces" under separatist control...and as far as neutrality....if that point will save thousands of Ukrainian lives....a pen should be out and being used right now.

Some sort of stubbornness and pride will get a lot of people killed, wounded and property damage....this is an off ramp and should be taken in my opinion.

Would be surprised if Putin would accept that even if Ukraine proposed it. The two breakaways and Crimea isn't all what he wants seemingly. To the bitter end now.

i agree Zelinski should snap his hand off

Neutrality makes sense.

what would Biden do if Mexico agreed to put China troops in Mexico, there would be an ultimatum

Sorry about that... didn't intend to label you as a Biden supporter.

As far as the voting population goes its more apparent than ever how many people can be lead to believe things that aren't true. By me saying that some here will get a chuckle ! Well, we all see the world a little differently and we all have our life experiences that shape how we view the world.

I wouldn't say I hate Biden... hate is a worthless use of energy in my opinion. The simple fact that his history of crooked and shameful behavior shows the world who he is. From Juanita Broadwick to Hunter to the wrong side of domestic and foreign policies over decades... that guy is the last guy that should be in charge of anything.

I concur... and some of them are or were politicians... Trey Goudy is one that I favor. Mark Levin would also get the nod. Mark understands at a deep level what the forces of a marxist type of governance can do to a country with a freedom and liberty supporting Constitution.

Perhaps that is part of the plan the big oil Oligarchs had in mind all along? Look at how many years Europe has had 6 and 7 dollar a gallon gas. Big oil has been leaving way too much money on the table in the USA for decades.

We are not privy to all the behind the scenes activities taking place, now, or in the past. Sit down with G Edward Griffins book sometime titled "The Creature from Jekell Island" ... the Federal Reserve's birth / charter was put together by 7 men that controlled approximately 1/4th of the world assets. We are seeing the closing acts of the biggest Ponzi scheme ever to have been put in play. Not a Ponzi scheme you say? What was a dollar worth in 1913 as compared to now? Why is 2% growth in GDP growth year after year seem to be the optimized growth rate as told to us by those in charge of the money supply? If wages follow GDP growth then where will it end? Its turning into Monopoly money! The financial systems are failing and under funded liabilities will eventually wreck the monetary systems. Our real deficit and unfunded liabilities is well over 100 trillion right now and suddenly 30 trillion doesn't sound all that bad, does it? LOL! The world is floating on fiat currencies in almost every major country you can name. The word "reset" is getting a little more air time in certain circles.

Interesting read for sure. The 1st question I have is... what did it cost the Russians to get that crude to market? Yes, it was discounted... so what... what was the bottom line profit for Russia with that discount sale? In the Bakken ( I am estimating based on numbers from 10 years ago ) they can calculate the cost per barrel to produce to be anywhere between 30 to 40 a barrel. I don't know what it cost Russia... its probably less as they don't follow environmental rules like we do here in North America. I don't know what the Russian oil workers are paid from the well to the finished product, however, I bets its less than it is here.

I think they make their money within the North American market even with less cost per gal/L...

Canada and the US enjoy a certain car culture, that and our vast travelling distances make up for the difference in cost.....it is made up by the volume of consumption...

There just has to be SOMEBODY in the US who can lead that country and not have their head up their own arse.....

So far it hasn't looked good

Its going to take more than just a good two term president to dig our way out of this mess. The levels of political bribery and other fraud has been sabotaging America for decades. If the swamp isn't drained and refilled with pro Constitutional politicians whose purpose is to restore America to the unrealized potential that exist... then... we are likely doomed to become a failed republic as other countries have in the past when socialism took root and communism followed.

My wife is from Nicaragua... she can tell you all about how the communist led Sandinistas ruined her country. Ollie North fell on the sword for president Reagan and the rest is history... selling drugs for guns is never a good idea no matter what country somebody is trying to save.
