Russia and Ukraine

That's another nasty place to be....during the Balkan's war, the Serbs were especially ruthless.....all of them in that area were pretty bad towards each other though...

Doesn't surprise me at all that Serbia and Kosovo would be saying such a thing...

Yep. Biden got played like a cheap fiddle. How can we think of abandoning them now.

I'm thinking we could have rebuilt most of our railroad system for what we have given to Ukraine.

And it's nowhere near over.
The US is but one of many countries supplying arms, training and equipment to Ukraine....

.....although the US is supplying the bulk of it.......

The cost of this war will be in the trillions before long.

Quite the "war zone" when the leader of the free world can take a 10 hr train trip to Kyiv and have a very little threat posture the entire trip...

This goes to show just how little control the Russians have over Ukraine....

Maybe the UN needs to go in and create a "buffer zone"

There is very little doubt in my mind that if Russia gets backed into a corner that it will use a nuclear solution especially if they think all is lost....the only hope we would have is if rogue generals disobey orders to launch....

They still have 85% of their Air Forces left. They could easily launch high altitude bombing campaigns with their fleet of bombers. Bomb at will any part of Ukraine. Baiting us into an air war.

At some point, someone with a brain should start asking the questions of, who pays to rebuild Ukraine? How long will it take? How does Ukraine repay that?

I was there in the 90s. It was left in a shambles then. We made strategic investments then. We can't afford that now. But like the 90s our hand will be forced to do it again.

There's not a lot of maneuver room over Ukraine to launch any sort of bombing campaign....the Russian air force would be in constant fear of overshooting the air space into NATO controlled air spaces...Russia would have no hope of winning an air battle with NATO.

We all know who will be rebuilding Ukraine once the dust settles......

My opinion is that we, as in NATO, should continue to support Ukraine until this thing is won. Russia is, and always has been, the enemy.

Well the tactic of toss bombing has been around for decades. They can make a turn long before they get close to a border. I have no reason to think the Russians can't do this. We did it in confined airspaces just for this reason.

I think if air superiority were capable, the Russians would have already gained it...normally that's one of the top priorities of an invasion...but they never achieved it.

The whole invasion was bungled from the get-go, the Russians didn't cut off Ukrainian communications or supply lines...the west is able to resupply Ukraine with impunity...

As I've said before if this invasion was conducted by the US, it would have been long over by now.

We also have to walk a fine line to ensure NATO isn't drawn into a direct combat role......

And we have to be careful Russia doesn't collapse into several nuclear capable rogue states....

The only way out of this is diplomacy but both sides are very stubborn and won't give an inch......

A Russian coup might be a way to resolve this...

That would be great. I don't doubt that we have people working to support this.

I don't believe, as many do, that Putin is insane and will use nuclear weapons. If the existence of the Rodina is threatened, maybe so but not in this case. The principle of MAD still applies and I think he's well aware of this.

There are a lot of military experts who strongly believe that if Russia is engaged by NATO and is at risk of being overrun, it will resort to a nuclear response...At this point, MAD will no longer be a thought...or concern...

Russia has destroyed it's position on the world stage with it's invasion of Ukraine....the scary thing about this is the "cozy" position they are in with Iran and China...

The next "cold war" will be far more dangerous than the last one was...

They're not going to be engaged by NATO, just by Ukraine

I think they have air superiority. Ukraine can fly but are losing a larger portion of their air assets than Russia is. I do think the Russians were not prepared for the tenacity of the Ukrainian ability to strike them in the air, so they are just softening them up with cheapest method. Just bomb into dust everything they can reach with the cheap stuff.
