I think they have air superiority. Ukraine can fly but are losing a larger portion of their air assets than Russia is. I do think the Russians were not prepared for the tenacity of the Ukrainian ability to strike them in the air, so they are just softening them up with cheapest method. Just bomb into dust everything they can reach with the cheap stuff.

The Russians never gained air superiority due to the fact Ukraine were still conducting air ops after the invasion whereas the Russians were very limited in theirs.....with the introduction of western ground to air weapons, any Russian air ops were ground to a halt...

Of course I'm not there but I do know a few people who are and they were saying Russian helos are pretty much all grounded and flying only if they absolutely have to...

In reality NATO is fighting this as a proxy war right now....it wouldn't take much to cross the line. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

NATO is taking a great risk by supplying arms/ammo, training, advisors and logistic support to Ukraine in the face of Russia..

Russia is tracking this and know where they stand.....now China, Iran, North Korea are all aligning...

Exactly....

Gone are the days of the US rolling into a conflict untouched with a vastly huge industrial might as was done during the last two global conflicts....

With the technology that goes into war machines, they can't be pumped out like they were in the early 20th century....if you lose a battalion of tanks, they are hard to replace, as we are seeing in the Ukraine.

Forget who you think is right or wrong in the situation. It just wreaks of hypocrisy to think we can give one side assistance but nobody else should assist the opposing side.
As far as I’m concerned we have no room to complain if China or anyone else starts giving aid to Putin.

Except Russia is the aggressor, they invaded another sovereign country.....

Anyone who gives them aid is basically justifying their actions..

There is enough controversy surrounding both countries that I don’t believe anyone can say who is truly the aggressor. Soooo much we don’t know and all we do ‘known is what has been told to us by media that supports our position in this.

I'm not too bright but Ukraine didn't send an attack force into Russia....

I’m not nor won’t. Simply saying it’s a part of the world we ALL ignored for the last 20-30yrs. The things that have gone on there only they know the real reasons why.

From what I've read there are a few reasons why Russia invaded Ukraine.

One was that Putin being a former Soviet era KGB operative always had an intention of regaining ground lost in the break up of the Soviet Union
Another was that Russia deems Kyiv as the birth place of Russia
I also read from another that Russia desires a "buffer area" around their country which would give them space between their borders and NATO countries...

I don't think any of this was ignored, people were tracking what was going on however there was a lot going on during the past 20-30 yrs.

Mostly accurate. Ukraine was on my beat in the 90s after Russia fell. They were going to be used as a buffer yes. There was never any love lost between Russia and Ukraine. But as a Russian territory they were given little choice.

Before the breakup Ukraine serviced much of the Russian aviation build maintenance and overhaul of those assets. They also had and still have good farmlands.

The first thing both Russia and the European nations wanted was to disarm Ukraine of it's nukes. The same nukes that Russia constructed to have a defense against that Europe while not presenting an easy target in the form of Moscow.

So we did that. And Ukraine was paid handsomely as a result. They were westernized yet still provided Russia with the same resources, but now we're getting economic growth from it.

Russia still had its old guard around. And Ukraine would have either a Pro Russian or a Pro Western government. Ukraine still needed Russia to thrive. And Russia needed them. So a lot was tolerated even though just under the surface the hate was still evident. We spent fortunes to keep things stable. Even with Pro Russian politics in place. Ukraine was about as ruthless as Russia was when it came to settling old scores. But money had a way of solving things. Ukraine was able to rely on Russia less. This was where Putin got paranoid. He couldn't keep them under his thumb. And he knew Ukraine could eff with the oil and gas pipeline that was constructed when Russia was all one big country. That was a major economic stream that could be threatened. So things had gotten tense since about 2005ish.

I really don't think we can judge a modern war against the war in Ukraine....

Russian tactics were flawed from the get-go and the Ukrainians are being artificially enhanced by the west....they have equipment they never had before and are being trained in western tactics and strategies....heck all the cell towers and communications are at full strength in Ukraine....that is normally the first thing to go in an invasion, then air superiority is gained keeping everything from the enemy on the ground, then supply lines and ability to resupply get cut. Armor and combined arms takes ground, infantry holds it and this gets repeated until objectives are taken.....none of this happened during this invasion.

I believe if two large, powerful militaries such as the US and China were to clash, warfare would initially be fought with technology but would soon turn into a "slug fest" of man and machine.

A few EMP bursts and technology is useless, and I can guarantee you all stops would be pulled with any available weapon systems...all "Geneva conventions" will go out the window and chemical, biological and nuclear weapons will be on the table.

Air raid warmings going off but he stood his ground no one was upset even the security personal did not rush him off to safety. 1 They were either so scared that they could not move. 2 His security was totally inept and useles. 3 It was a set up for him to look like Super Biden. I don't know how you went to what Biden did or has done as it has very little on how warfare will be fought...it's almost an obsession or something.

For him to even be in such a place and ride a 10 hr (one way) train to get there was an amazing thing to happen....

They warned off the Russians most likely as a means for them to not accidently target him and call in the wrath of the entire US military.

Just one big photo opportunity. Its all image salvation when the dice have already been cast. The world knows Biden in compromised and stupid which under Obama's leadership ( the Press Secretary admitted that much the other day ) is the status quo. Remember this.... Obama went to Saudi Arabia and bowed to the Royalty that exist there while the American Military is protecting the Saudis under a contract with them for any country that would attack it. The Saudis did not bow in return. My guess is the Saudis chuckled under their breath when they observed his behavior.
