Should guns be banned?

I couldn't agree more with you Blaster. You don't see hillbilly's and kids from the ghetto shooting up elementary schools. But then again you don't see many hillbilly's or ghetto kids born with a silver spoon intheir mouth. They have had their :moon: beat when they get out of line and know struggle disappointment and loss.

+1 for discipline, :moon: whoopings, and letting the child experience a little adversity.

I'm an idiot for posting news information and my opinion on a forum that is used for the purpose of discussion and opinion. I find it intriguing how your response was to attack me personally. You sir know nothing about me. You can name call and attack me personally on an internet forum if that makes you feel like a man. I however gain the satisfaction of knowing your intellectual capacity or lack there of

I love to debate i enjoy to hear other peoples opinions on various topics. Its a way to gain perspective and understanding. Sometimes I play devils advocate just to get a response other than the status quo. I have said it numerous times on this forum and other platforms that I am PRO_Gun. I have been raised with and around guns, hunted, used them extensively in the military. I don't see an issue with wanting home protection. The issue is there is no longer black and white good and bad guys. These mass murders are not isolated incidents. The mentally ill, the fame seekers, and now the terrorists have the blueprint for destruction, pain, and infamy

There are a lotta scared people out there mabupa, when some people get scared they look to the government as the savior instead of looking out for themselves. In the USA most of us know the government will always be there 20 minutes late and only do the paperwork after they draw a chalk line around you still warm body and maybe the bodies of your family members. As a new person here you should learn our history, the country was born at the barrel of a gun and each person has a right to a gun, the right comes from our founders fear of tyranny and despotism, they thought the best last line of defense for the our freedom and the Republic from this was to arm the individual. Some smart and refined people today don't think we should have that right as they know whats better for everyone else and the government is always good and being run by altruistic people that would never harm the average citizen,,,,, as long as we go along with their programs. Then some people (most) have balls and know the history of man in government doing harm to their own populations going back to the beginning of humankind. These people are the sentinels of freedom, usually serve in the military or are just upstanding good citizens, a vast majority or new Americans know their rights and freedoms better than people born here as they have to study for their citizenship. If you see the government try to take away peoples rights here in the US you should go back to where you came from unless you are ready to get the full experience American democracy at work, its ugly but it has seemed to work pretty well til now. Remember if you live in fear you will never live free, fear nothing while you are in the US of A. Welcome to America.

I'm not an expert when it comes to the history of the country, but, I became a US citizen sometime ago and being a history addict understand a lot of the things. I was just being sarcastic with my post  I feel like most of you guys when it come to guns. Actually considering getting some training and buying one for my protection after seeing all the crazy people out there. Hope I never have to use it though. I can imagine the news headlines about me and all the people talking about this cavemen that come from other countries to kill  anyways............ I come from a traditional family(traditional meaning: mom and dad married for close to 30, some serious a$$ kicking to keep me and siblings in line, etc) with very strong values and I believe the lack of values is the main problem these days but, that's just MHO and I don't like arguments. so, I usually don't comment on threads like these.

Im not attacking you personally I am sure you are not as bright as you seem to be. Your opinion is that people with gun collections and "cool arsenal of weapons" are to blame for what had happened. That "sir" is an ignorant statement, therefore reflecting on you personally as being ignorant. I have a collection of guns and I have not nor will not ever think about using them other than what they are attended to be used for, hunting, protection, and a high capacity paper killer. Don't worry though, the government I am sure will tell you when to pull your head out of the sand.....or other places in that matter.

Well, a little generalization there, growing up in Jersey I have had my time in and near the ghetto, as well as half my friends being born and raised in the ghetto, there are huge problems there but the overwhelming majority of the people that come from the ghetto are good people. Yes lots more than non ghetto population get into legal troubles, mostly drugs, but I would not write off anyone if they come from the ghetto until they prove themselves otherwise just like anyone else. That being said these killings (slaughter) in our inner cities is a direct result of family unit breakdown caused by many factors, in my opinion the biggest factors is the government acting as baby daddy. Either way, its only little black kids, nothing to see here keep on walking, if they were 20 little white kids getting shot up over a weekend in Chicago last summer you might have heard about it, hell we'd probably still be hearing about it. If you want to have a national discussion, they need to start to look at inner city murder causation first, they have more data on this than any new trends of Richy Rich kids shooting up mass gathering places.
And no you dont see ghetto kids shooting up schools....just each other

Correct in a sense. New purchases are registered by serial number on the form 4473. But when the background check phone call is made only rifle or pistol is spoken. The 4473 is kept on premise of dealer that does the transfer and only if said dealer closes do those forms get passed to ATF. ATF would have to visit each and every FFL holder if they wanted to know exactly what you own. A natl database or gun registry is unconstitutional as well as our govt realizes the danger of one. The perfect example is Nazi Germany. They had registries and it was very easy to round up all gun owners. As anti gun as some think our govt is they have at least resisted the natl registry to protect us from worst case scenarios like an invasion by our enemies.

If you think big brother does not have access to information, uhhh ok then.

So let me get this straight #1busa..... This kid snaps, kills all these innocent people and people that have gun collections are to blame? You sir are an idiot..... no offense

Come on now. You were doing well. Name calling DETRACTS from our cause and it's supporting statements. No name calling :rulez:

My issue is and will continue to be the fact that any and everybody can buy a gun and not just a gun but as many as they want. There are a lot of irresponsible people, careless, reckless, etc. Just because they haven't committed a felony doesn't mean that they should be able to watch an episode of doomsday preppers and run out and buy a cache of guns. If you or some1 has mental issues in your family you should not be able to have firearms. You can't be trusted 2nd amendment or not

1st - More prayers for the families.

2d - Guns are what helped give this country its freedom. So while those of you that want the government to ban them, give thanks to the guns that give you the right to complain about them.

A lot of folks seem to think the number of guns a person owns is an issue. The conn killer used 2 with a 3rd in the car. I believe the Colorado guy had 2, maybe 3 with a malfunction. I don't know about you guys, but I can only shoot 2 at a time, without accuracy and 1 with a good degree of accuracy. 1 trained individual with a single gun is a lot more deadly than an idiot with 70lbs of guns hanging off him. If we can have 1, we can have 20, if the owner goes crazy, the quantity won't much matter.

Why do folks keep thinking the guvmint is all so powerful?
The British once laughed at peasants and said same thing. And look what happened, a country was born.
If the Military here got into a fight with the US populace the military would eventually lose.
Basic 'cave dwellers' as some call them have been doing quite well against our army in a place called Afghanistan. The citizens of this country are better armed and equipped than the Taliban. Armed citizens far outnumber the amount of troops the govt could muster. We'd kick their ass.

The most important right the founders gave us is free speech and after that the next one was designed to protect it. The right to keep and bear arms.

The fault I see with that logic is the armed forces have an advantage with high tech weaponry, electronic warfare stuff, lot more firepower than you or I. Ask anyone from the infantry or artillery units. Also, the example you used about our country's birth, both sides had the same pea-shooters, apples to apples. The cave dwellers you speak of have been supplied with comparable weaponry that we have....possibly some of the same stuff we gave them years ago.

I didn't see that as a personal attack being as we are all pretty much idiots as far as i can see........

I do think everyone should be able to buy/own a gun, I actually know this because it says it in the Bill of Rights. I do however think the family is the only ones that should be able to judge if a person is mature or sane enough to own one. This is where all the mass killers went off the rails, it all started with their absentee cowardly families.

My issue is and will continue to be the fact that any and everybody can buy a gun and not just a gun but as many as they want. I don't care what your excuse is I still don't think you should be letting your monkey play with your weapons.....
