let me throw this into this mix:

Upon review, this seems to say that 84 percent of the entire planet  are blinded sheep, and that 16 percent are the ONLY smart people and probably should be ruling them all?

I dunno... most of what I see from people that are not religious [criminals etc] kinda scares me.  Good to have a moral foundation rather than not

It has to do with the concept of leaders and followers.
Many atheists are closet types that hold a position in the clergy for the fringe benefits and power. Other closet atheists are politicians with bible studying constituents in their districts and use the word of the "lord" to move their voters towards desireable legislation.
You have intelligent people that just get the true meaning of the world and the concepts and processes that make it run.
Actually a much smaller group than 16% are true self learned Atheists like myself, the rest were never exposed to faith so they should not be grouped into my exclusive group.
We know the truths we use the truths and we operate in a zone out of social traditions and restrictions (taboos). We live freely without being punished by our theology, we benefit from it.
So, carry on dear believer in the lord and I shall go my way, odds are that your God has forsaken me. It is a blessing! As I am my own autonomous entity living with impunity and not conditioned suffering.

AND BOY HAS THIS CONVERSATION EVOLVED; I call truce for both sides!
No one is a quack or wierdo for expressing their viewpoint here. We have to remember we came to this site with a common theme our love for the Busa.
Let us not behave like one owns a Busa and the other a Kawi (Sorry K)..

I'd have to go with Evolution Theory...Try as I might.. I just can't buy into the idea of an invisible, all knowing, all seeing entity creating all that we know in 6 days and resting on the 7th.. It would be nice.. But, Nope.. Just don't buy it.

At the end of the day, we're all just a bunch of knuckle draggin' monkeys riding 1300cc's of Two Wheeled Thunder!! And that's OK by me..

I'm Sad... Last time a group got together to discuss religion here, it turned into a months worth of quality debate and discussion. For the most part, it was conducted in a mature respectful way by folks that had considered their opinions, that had ACTUALLY THOUGHT about the topic, and had more than just half an un-formed thought to offer.

5 pages of "he Said/She Said" BS and propigation of the worst sort of trite, pre-packaged psuedo thought. Does not make a discussion.

We have the same tired CANNED, "Cause the Bible Says SO" closed mindedness, followed by the equally canned and sterilized "Science Proves" this or that.

Grrr... Everyone roll up windows and turn up you own music cause nobody is listening to the other...

I gave it a shot... I think....

The impression to me is, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the scientific mindset [and I do appriciate and enjoy science on many levels] does not seem to have room to accept that it is possible there is more out there than science can explain. Yet there are many examples of this all over the place everyday.

I am willing to standup and say I believe there are things greater than myself, that I may never understand, but they still exist and I accept and respect that. Science is like, "gotta fit into our package, dude, or it isn't there". Am I wrong? I used to be ALL ABOUT science, used to think that way, and it had to explain everything. But now I see the huge flaw in that.

Can someone else interpet what I am trying to say here, better? It's late and I'm beat.

Wouldn't it be crazy if the Bible's representation of the origin of man, was exactly how it's written? Some superior "being" [?] or entity waved his tentacle and created a mass into the universe and everyone out of matter.... that's no different than, say, us popping "The Sims" game DVD into our computer and launching a whole world of it's own... aren't we like a god doing that? yeah, my example there is dumbed down considerably, but you get the drift.

I'm playing bro, I think your responses have been more lucid and coherant than many that have been posted and not really what I was pointing my mouse at. I appreciate your posts because you are not TELLING folks HOW IT IS.... 90% of the time, you tell us how you think it is.

You have answers that work for you and you share. You explain your position and you explain WHY when possible.

You asked about 3 pages ago why those expressing a scientific viewpoint seem defensive? I don't think folks are defensive so much as baffled somewhat. I find it exasperating sometimes when folks that I consider rational and intelligent express an unquestioning belief in a being presented in a book written by man. I find it odd that folks pick up this book, go to church a few times and buy into it HL&S.

You know I love ya guys, but I find myself at a loss sometimes when I see so many asking so little about so much.
