The B-King is dead. Already?

I think there is a reason that they stick out the back. There is some heat on my back at speed in excess of say 100mph. I have the Devil pipes that are short also.

I would look funny @ 140 with my shirt on fire:devil:. (unlikely I will ever see that speed though)

The Duc 999 is also very ugly. That is why it was made for such a short time. Busas make me yawn? Are all you guys blACK?
Ok So I am one of those damn fools that have multiple bikes. I was also one of the first people to say how ugly the B-King was. How it looked like a rolling coffee table from the front. and WTF those pipes! Last Thursday I took my Goldwing in for its yearly inspection and sitting on the floor are to B-Kings and one has Two Brothers Slip ons and LED tail light kit. The manager, who knows I have impulse control issues asks if I want to ride it , then he asks again (you ask me twice to ride a Honda 50 or anything else I am going to at least take it around the block.) so I say yeah.
After rolling it out he starts it. This is where it grabbed my attention (now my Busa is an 05 with a hahn turbo kit and fuel rail going out through a micron can so it is quiet) The King with slip on is not! It snapped to life with a SNAP. Swinging my leg over I the seating position reminded me of the KTM Super Duke I rode last year for a bit. Rolling out of the dealer ship I accidentally had the wheel up right away. After that little boo boo I settled in and took it through a collection of different types of roads. What a hoot! While it does not handle as well as my 999 it certainly does handle quite well. (A bit wider bars would give the rider a bit more leverage at low speed. For me tank width disappeared at after the first 30 seconds. My Busa is a sophisticated machine that goes by all but unnoticed most days. The B-King screams the Dennis Leary song , I am an A**hole the whole time you are on it. Where the my Busa will do everything it is suposed to and more and do it is sort of a stealth mode , the B-King anounces it is going to kick your a** and does.
Thu Ducati leaves Wednesday and the King Joins the 05 turbo Busa in the garage. Yeah its Ugly but you only get to look at the tail light quit whining.

What kind of question is that? Does it matter to you?
Like to profile all Busa drivers? If Busa's bore you, I think you could get a surplus Atlas Rocket for a exciting one way trip back to your planet!

First you obviously have bad Taste the 999 was one of the best looking bikes Duc ever produced ..at least in my eyes and since it is my wallet that is all that counts. Oh BTW if Busa make you yawn simply don't buy one. B Kings in my eyes are ugly from every angle except the view over the handle bars and then they are a thing of beauty! As to my race When it comes to bikes I am the only color that matters I am Green and all the titles for all six of my bikes are mine!

There are Busa riders not drivers unless yours has 4 wheels?

Oh pleeze! I am actually repeating what I have heard lots of Duc riders say. Too be honest I guess ugly is too strong of a word to use. I take it back.:beerchug:

I am aware that the 749 and 999 were unpopular with the Ducatista's it is a simple matter of taste. I believe them to be the Best looking bike Duc has produced in this Decade. That said I never rode the thing so it was wasted on me. I traded it for the B King and have ridden the B King more in the past 10 days than I did the Duc in the past year. It simply fits my riding style better. I also am likely to do a bit more to My 05 Busa with its turbo and fuel rail now that I have a good commuter ti use while I work on it.

I saw that...thing on the show room floor. i walked around it trying to get a good angle on it but it was just odd all around. i asked the salesman what happened to the bike and he said....um yah its um...lol. what the heck was going though that design engineers head. salesman made a point to say that the only common piece was the engine. its a real weird looking bike. oh well to each his own, if you like then good enjoy

Hey, thanks for the welcome mate!

If people stop judging the B-King on it's looks and take one for a ride I think they would be pleasantly surprised!

this beast get's killer feedback and i wish i had a buddy that would swap his b-king for my busa for the day. i'm dying to see what the hype is about!

Just got off the phone with the wife about purchasing the B-King we have on the floor here at work...looking very promising!

Bad part of it...I'm about to take a BATH on my Z1000 trade in...

They are a awesome ride.

I agree - PLEASE stop judging the B-King on it's looks.

I love the way it looks - all agressive and in your face.

Especially with the Two Brothers pipes I just fitted.

The way non-owners go on about this incredible machine.

You would think they are talking about a bike that looks like
Barbara Streisand on steriods.

Oh sorry, that's what the first generation Hayabusa looked like - and I still went out and bought one.

Get over it and ride a B-King.

It will spoil you for any other bike ...

I rode into work today on my Z1000 thinking "What am I doing on this tiny little machine?" The B-King spoiled me just by sitting on it in the showroom. I barked at a salesman today "Don't touch my bike!" ... and i hid the keys tee hee hee. If the wife vetos this purchase it'll be ground zero in my household at this point!

I am new to this 4m and would like to know why some Busa owners feel so threatened about the B-King. You know, the ones who are always chiming in on the "B-King" discussions. There is a lot of truth to the saying that criticism can sometimes be the highest form of flattery. It is as though they are happy to see it go out of production. Is it because it shares the same drive train? I met a Busa owner that is on this 4m. He has an 08 and spoke highly of the B-King after riding it. He want's one. I am sure that there are people who think the Busa looks like a bug with wheels, and cruiser owners who think that you look strange laying on your tank while riding it in what looks like it's very uncomfortable position. Not many of the "naked" bikes make large numbers in sales. The ZRX 1200r is a good example. It has to be one of the best all around motorcycles ever made. But it wasn't sold in this country after 2005. I like it's hard retro looks and it is powerfully fast and handles like it it on rails. It is on my list even though it isn't sold here any more. I personally don't care what other people think as long as they didn't pay for what I ride. I just can't live with a bike that I can't get comfortable on, but you won't hear me ever put down a sport bike or would I ever be happy to see them go out of production. Mabe it's because I'm not threatened by them !!! The B-King dethroned the new $18,000 Vmax at half the price. You can get two and an after market exhaust too for the prices they are selling for. I could be wrong, but I think the B-King will become a cult icon like the ZRX 1200r that sells for $1800 less than it did new. That appeals to me, and may not to you. And buy the way, all motor vehicle mfg. that sell in this country by law must make parts for 10 years unless that has changed very recently. Keep the B-King. There are a lot of Busa's and you will "always" be able to get one at a good price, that is unless they stop making them also.
