VA fall ride?

C'mon now...211 isn't that bad!  It can be a challenging road for the skilled rider, but if taken at speed limit pace, no problems.  At the beginning of this season there were a few accidents...a couple resulting in deaths, but that was because of people riding WAY past their limits.  It's a fun road, plus, we are more mature, more sedate riders (right?)  Besides, with the heavy po-po presence there on the weekends, there is NO WAY anyone is going to be screwing around.  RIGHT MICHELLE???

I think you've nailed it Dr. J.

Yeah, another guy over on CF said it was a blast to ride...individual tastes I guess...I just got worried that there was a pit leading to Purgatory and we wouldn't be able to pass!

Oh, and I'm taking the back of the pack...I'm not a twisties gal...not yet at least! Kind of nervous about the run to be honest...

Don't sweat it. I'm going to hang back and let the pros take the lead. I'll be back there with ya. My best friend Bob might be comin out from IL too. He has a beautiful 02 silver, lowered, chrome wheels, yoush 4-1, and other mods. Bob and I ride like old men when we get together. My knee draggin and drag racin days are over....

Old Fart...

Not an old fart...just conservative

What the heck...I'll be a "fart" too then! The Harleys will probably be further up than me!

Not to worry....just stay within your limits even if it is below the speed limit. It takes all of 5 maybe 10 minutes to get through that pass. Just don't push yourself past your limits...and you Michelle especially have nothing to worry about....girls ALWAYS stay level headed and think with the right head...right? Not to worry though, it'll be fun. I am not really a hardcore rider either, so I'll hang back there with ya' yeah, all the cool people ride in the back of the bus anyway, right?

OH YEAH!!! The Purgatory pit...yeah, it's only about a half mile long, and there is this 12 foot long ramp that if you are going fast enough you can just clear the other side of the pit. That is how those other riders died earlier this year...they did not clear the other side of the pit. Good luck with that....hope you make it to the other side

Okay...CF forum riders say it's been reduced to 45 mph, lots of squids and lots of popo...

Doesn't bother me...I was hoping to stay legal anyway...can't afford tickets...as for squids; we'll just let 'em pass...

Good for you! Great...we are going to have an awesome ride. Actually, where we are headed, a lot of sport bike guys I ride with like to stop off at a place called Foxes Pizza on 33. I do not know how good the food is, but stopping there after running 211 is kind of like a rite of passage. Keep in mind too though that 33 is a pretty popular sprtbike joint too. I do not think it is as hardcore as 211, but still a pretty meaty road. WEAR YOUR GEAR!! My gear consists of a half shell, cut off denim shorts, a holey (but not blessed) tank top undershirt and cowboy boots, Python skin. OH...amd fingerless snowboarding gloves.

It's going to be fun and we're all going to be safe and ride within our limits. There is no pressure to ride fast or drag the pegs. Tom and I will do a pre-ride before the 9th and we'll post pics along with a detailed ride report.
This is not a road race but a gathering for a fun ride

I'm pretty sure I'll be 2-up, so I have no intentions of riding near my limits..:o)

Ditto!

We are also going to pick about two or three places to stop along the route. Let you know when they are decided. That way others will know where to meet up with us, and this will provide places to gather, eat, and let some catch up (not that we all have to stay together though).

Postal.

Sage and I are set for a pre-ride on Sept. 25th, if it doesn't rain of course. We will be meeting at the Holiday Inn on Rt. 17 (north side of 17, right side if you are heading west), 1/2 mile west of I-95, at 8:30 AM on the 25th. Let's try to roll out NLT 8:45 AM.

See you there!

Postal.

Fox Pizza is at the bottom of the sweet curves on W33. Pass the filling station. To be exact, it is in Brandywine, West Va.
