Weather Where You Are

There sure isn't much snow.....is this normal for this time of year?

We don't have much either and that isn't normal here....

It depends
We normally don't get snow until January and Febuary, and sometimes March.
Usually 2 or 3 good ones with close to a foot, and maybe a couple of dustings.
But it seems to go in cycles, as we havn't had hardly anything in about 4-5 years.
The late 90's/early 2k's were the same way, hardly none.
I live about 25-30 miles east of the Blue Ridge Mountains/Parkway, and at 2k-4k feet, they break up most of the snow storms that western Va gets regulary every winter.
It's the really big snow storms from the NW, or the more rare ones from the SW that make it up through western and central North Carolina that usually get us here.
Sunday's inch of snow turned to freezing rain later Sunday night, so ice on the trees and slush on the ground.
Tomorrow morning will likely be the worst, as alot of it will melt today, soak the roads, and with lows in the high teens and low 20's tonight, will likely cause alot of black ice before sunrise.

I remember as a kid some years we got so much snow you couldn't even ride a snowmobile as it would sink out of sight and bog down....I even remember my older brother's car buried in the driveway so deep we had to dig down to get to it....

and I remember other years where we got new toboggans for Christmas and there wasn't a drop of snow and it was raining.....

I recall some of the then old timers in their 80s or so talking about how the weather has been ever since they were kids and how their parents and grandparents said it has always been hit or miss...these were mostly farm folk who tracked weather pretty closely....one thing I regret not having now are a bunch of calendars we found on our farm where the farm wife tracked daily weather in them....these calendars were from the early 1900's and would most likely have been valuable to meteorologists....

Weather is and always was (and always will be) a crazy thing....

It's colder than a witch's broomstick out there today.....

When I was out in the truck it said it was -23'C and there is a wicked north wind blowing which makes it around -38'C or so....

But the truck absolutely loves the cold air.....it's really frisky when the throttle is mashed with is counterintuitive as the tires don't like to stick to the frozen pavement....I had it in AWD which helped alot.....

65 here now with a high of 71 today.
Sorry not sorry
No reason to be sorry, I like the cold and in some ways rather it over the unbearably hot and humid days....at least one can dress for the cold.

I miss the bike but know when the riding season comes it will be that much sweeter....and more appreciated....

I'm the opposite. It's easier to cool off than keep warm. I can get a cool drink or go in the ac. When it's freezing outside no amount of heat inside will warm me up? I'll cook before I feel comfy. So I'd rather live where it's warm and vacation in the cold if I want to see snow. But living in it is over for me.

My sister who lives in Florida says the same thing.......

I am glad I no longer have to live outside in it anymore....
