California is a big state, some neighborhoods are more in line with normal living standards while others are incredibly expensive.

My son is glued to CA, don’t think he will ever leave. It is really expensive where he lives, tiny houses cost millions. They are built on top of each other and were built a long time ago. Not for me, but he loves the place. Different folks, different strokes.
