What Did You Do To Your Busa, Today?

..................waaaay beyond my skills....you are a wizard!

Odd a Suzuki shop would have a couple handlebar switches sitting there...but awesome you are able to make them function on your bike.

As we're in lockdown again, thought I'd set about a small project for the ol girl. A while ago, I installed a Rostra cruise with a custom built interface and a nice slim set of switches which I had mounted under the left switch block. Well..... turns out that Suzuki Aust had a full L&R set of Gen3 switch blocks in stock so grabbed them and set about making them work on my Gen2. Including getting the Rosta cruise working with the factory cruise buttons. Points of interest: The "hazard" button is relocated to the RHS on the Gen3. And the Gen3 has no up & down mode select button. Also the headlight high beam switch is integrated with the "flash to pass" switch too.

A small, crappy, quickly put together home made video of where I'm at. (pardon the accent - I was born with it... )

I never would have guessed that was possible but you did an amazing job with it! Hope you continue to make more videos on the progress of the bike.
And great voice for narration.

Measured chain slack & lubed the chain
Looser is better than tighter so I'm at 30mm on a DID ZVM-X 530 chain with 10.7k mi
First slack check in 4.5k mi
Axle/swingarm misaligned by 0.3 mm - should I worry?

DID YOU KNOW?
Chain slack measurement requires a gentle touch. If pushed upwards too hard when obtaining measure, the chain's upper run begins to lift off the plastic guide and results in a false (higher free play) reading. [Source: Dave Moss Video]

Getting ready for the next Loring event
The single stage has served me so well for the last ten plus years
No reason to use the Gen2 for this, I know pulling all the dynamic springs and adding some more weight to the Arms would be okay, but I KNOW this system and know it well, 15 minutes to swap it is no big deal and the gen 2 will go right back in when I get home and regear for fall Drag racing

Well , been meaning to post up what my old mate Al Henry and his ol' lady Mary Rose did recently on their Busa's .
Al ran his best time 8.53 @ 155.38 on his 34K km stock internal motor stretched Busa and then went on to win the Northern Territory State Nationals , Modified Bike .
Mary Rose has run her stock 110K km '99 in the Street Bike class , and came runner up in the NT State Nationals Titles . #

You can have a look at the team on facebook , currently one rider down , Rappy , who is actually the Crew Chief and running a very coordinated crew .

New to me 2000. I wanted a little lift in the handlebars so I bought those knockoff Helibars off eBay. Got my money's worth because the hole for the switchgear was on the wrong side of the bar. Simple enough to drill a new one tho.

Now I wanted more rise. Looking at the design of the Helibars, I can do that...

"Helibars" had 1.5" of rise

Now I got 3.5" at the ends:

I just cut the OG handlebar after the top clamp and fabbed up a bend out of some 3/8" thick AL. Notice the grinding on the ends by the bend, those will get TIG'd up when I'm completely happy with how they feel. For now it's great. I even tilted them back towards me a bit so the master cylinders (both) don't hit the windshield. I did need a longer brake hose, which is on order anyway since I'm also soon installing a Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder. And I'll need to stretch the fast idle cable about an inch. No biggie, I've made cables before.

Hey orgsters , if like brother @ottafish and many others , you find you got extended lockdown to endure , and you have already exhausted all the bike maintenance , polishing and update fitments ... You might want to consider getting an online purchase model kit , of Busa or other motorcycle to build up and even paint . Here is a couple of type places to score one , but evil bay and any hobby shop worldwide would have something in stock . These kits as example are 1/12 scale for reasonable $ , and then the extreme size and $ giant 1/4 scale semi built kits .
I got lucky on a 2nd edition 1299 Panigale , seen it some time back for v good price from Netherlands , it sat a full month waiting for flight out to Australia .
A good bit of fun to fill up some of that time , and not just motorcycle kits to consider of course .

I saw a 1/4 scale Hayabusa in a model shop one time and the price was crazy...

I forgot all about it and years later the hobby shop was closing up and somebody got that kit (and many other kits) for peanuts then turned around and sold it on ebay for some crazy price....

I used to build models all the time but the arthritis in my hands makes it almost impossible now...I gave away most of the models I had some of which were still new in their boxes...

I went through a military vehicle model kick there for a while but gave most away once I built them...it was more fun building, painting and camouflaging them then displaying them.

I think I was up to around 20 bike models and gave them all away....if I found someone who owned a bike I had a model of, I'd give the model to them...I had a 1/6 scale Honda CX500 Turbo and Yamaha XS 1100 Midnight Special (the rest were 1/12)....I found owners of each bike and gave them the model.....they were astounded I'd do such a thing.

I haven't built any kits for many years , when in my mid teens , I liked getting , say a Tamiya 1/12 Katana kit for example, and then fitting up trick wheels etc. from a 1/12 race bike kit , made a lot of Mad Max type bikes and superbikes . For many years I like and collect rare , fairly high end diecast models , and have collected and sold heaps on over those years . Got the 1/4 Ducati awhile back , haven't had it out to even check contents , I plan to tho over the real hot part of summer , or even next winter . Been working on my real bikes instead lol .
I think anything that can relax you is a good thing , and on the most part , collecting and building stuff does have that effect imho .

got sick and tired of this electrical gremlin
So I ripped every single solitary wire off my bike and started installing the Standalone ECU harness I have been fitzing with for so long

Factory Baro and Factory TPS left to connect then wire starter relay stuff and it should be ready to fire
then Air shifter/AMS1000/Inter cooler pump and Rectifier to wire

I bought a couple of NOS TW 1000 alarms. I've had a series 400 on the 2005 for 16 years. I figured this is ideal for the 2022 so I'm in the process of installing the Internatrix TW 1000.

Best thing about this thing for me is they are loud as hell, motion sensor, proximity sensor, and they have the little pocket fob so you know when the alarm is going off, arm/disarm, and it's good for an eigth/quarter mile.

Can't wait to get it done, that way I can blip the box, put a rotor lock on it, and go inside a restaurant and have dinner without wanting to check on it every five minutes.
