What Did You Do To Your Busa, Today?

Got the painted top cover ready to go. Looks much better in black imho.

It does look alot better in black.
Especially since it matches the frame.

I know I've been forgetting to order something all morning too...then I saw the gas tank prop rod in the picture!
That's it! lol
I just went to ebay and bought a used one for $20.
My new to me roached out 03 1k didn't have one...suprise, lmao
I've used other things to hold tanks up too, but the factory prop is easy and works.
So Thanks!

Well it’s 16 below zero outside and I’m working today but later I’ll be continuing my quest to have a Fueltech on my Gen 3.

It’s been hard to focus- I got Covid a month ago and am still feeling sick. :(

I started this with zero knowledge of basic electricity. I have a pile of connectors that aren’t labeled, several un terminated harnesses, relay, Davis driveshaft sensor x2, and a lot more. I have no clue where or how to mount the Davis driveshaft sensors.

Muay Thai kickboxing is another hobby of mine and it’s helpful to take out my aggression on a heavy bag. Set a glove in the picture for fun and I love those gloves.

I’m reading the manuals and am drawing out a wiring diagram, on paper, to plan out the harness. I’ve asked David Luguori for a call to give me an overview on how to plan everything out and for some help in general. That should help me get going and I need to order harnessing supplies still.

Just want to share and if anyone has wiring knowledge or suggestions I’m all ears!! I’m probably going to stoke some old threads as I have better questions.

My first attempt that I’ll do over and will also have multiple pages so I can understand what I’ve drawn because this is terrible hahaha

You got a lot of fun ahead of you. My only two suggestions at the moment are mount everything where it fits best, then lay the harness where it makes most sense. Secondly, follow the manufacturer suggestions on power and ground points to a T. Not all ground are created equal. If they tell you to ground to the battery or the chassis, there's a reason for it. One more thing, when routing the cam and crank wiring, try to route it away from any wiring to do with the ignition it any wiring that sees high current (more than maybe 5-10A) at least 6 inches is a rule of thumb (gigity). If you have to cross cam/crank pickup wiring with ignition wiring out high current wires, try and cross them at 90 degrees. Hope this helps and have fun!

Got my shift light in. Went with yellow for the light.

@13B-RX3 I’m thinking of reusing the stock fuse block. Is there a better one I can buy? What about diodes, do you use any? Suzuki seems to.

I agree with the power and grounds!! I’m reading manuals 5x each to educate myself. David Ligurori did mess this up in his video on how to install the FT wideband. He said run both black wires to battery ground but one goes to engine ground per the FT instructions. I’m going with the instructions. RCC and Scott Davis said they worked on a few bikes David wired up that had issues. Yikes.

I’m still drinking from a fire hose but also more confident than ever in my ability. Just feels like I’m learning how to build a plane while I’m flying the plane.

Things that would take someone 5 minutes because they have done this, are taking me an hour to educate myself on and not do any of the actual work. It will come together but I want to plan it out the best I can.

Uncut Gen 3 wiring harness for sale!!! Just got it out and here is my humble garage.

My cat is not impressed but she likes the heater haha

The stock fuse block should be in great condition and work well. As for diodes, they are used when necessary. The two main functions you will commonly see them used is when powering a single circuit from multiple inputs, as to not send power back to the unused input, and across "inductors" ie relays, fans, solenoids, etc. Google flyback diode. Most quality relays have diodes built into them. It all depends on the exact application though. More often than not the ECM has diodes built in to the outputs to prevent flyback. I would really worry about that for now. They are usually used to fix a problem more than an install item. Unless you are dealing with a known trouble condition. Clear as mud.

Ordered a couple sprockets 36, and 38 and just ordered a Cardo Packtalk Neo. It's their new model. Should be good. I need music while I ride. I only ordered a single one not the double.

Hi. No music when I ride the motor is the best sound. Are you planing some top speed runs? I have a 34 tooth and a 20 tooth front and I have the overdrive 5th and 6th gears and a 200/55/17 tire.

Yes. I plan a few depending. I'm thinking I will hit between 215-225mph if I'm lucky. I will have gearing now for 230mph. Once I get that done, then I am going to want to find the best combo for street. I like playing around with gearing and seeing what is more comfortable or faster.

Ummm. Yes Loring...I do plan on making some passes next year.

If I'm 100% honest here, I plan on doing that on my first ride on the new setup. First run about 2 miles from my house I fully intend on opening it up all the way. F%$ it. I won't do anything crazy trying to dodge cars, but I know time of days where there is no one there.
