Who Rode Today?

Wife and I got in about 90 miles today, great weather about 64 degrees, sunny blue skies with big white clouds. Lots of bikes out today. Had a guy pass me on one of my fav stretch of roads too bad I wasn’t alone as I think we would’ve had some fun, I stayed on his tail for a series of curves then backed it down as I didn’t want to leave the wife behind too far on this stretch of road.

It's great to see the boss lady is enjoying her new ride which makes it better for you two to get out and ride.

Got in just over 800kms last weekend, first group ride in a while...some had a 'drink' at each stop so we kept well away from that lot.
Weather was kind and we made some new friends.

Looks like a great time was had Nath, your mate with the trike, I've seen him many times at various rallies over the years, used to ride a two wheeler, never met him officially but he's a cool dude, I hate riding with trikes though . . can be tricky passing them and they often hog the road and cut the corners in the tight stuff lol.
I followed a very fast and powerful V8 trike once, he went around to 250kmh between Burnham and Chertsey, absolute lunatic rider so I backed off and kept away from him lol.

Mate on the trike is my bro inlaw Martin  , him and Tania have had it for 18 yrs its 'her' trike actually but not often piloting now, Martin recently sold his 350 chev trike and yes they did ride 2 wheels before.
That Lexus unit runs really strong, if i lined up beside him on the Tenere id lose badly....the BKing and Busa not so
He's a top rider and we know each other well on the road & same with the Triumph rider (RG Brent frm Rakaia).

Yeah man, I recognised Brent, his beards longer though lol.
So he’s your bro in-law, must say hi next time I see him.
Have you ever tried to ride a trike?
I have... don’t want to try it again either, and it was only a low power VW trike lol !

I guess I amvery fortunate to have a close riding buddy, never really thought about it much . . . just kinda taken it for granted, you have caused me to be grateful for the great riding we have had together!
Thanks Bill. :beerchug:
Does he play in the dirt with you? That would be the best scenario, having a riding buddy for all conditions.

No, unfortunately he’s not a dirt rider at all.
I’ve tried to get him to ride my DRZ, but it’s too tall for him( he’s about 5’ 7”) and he’s worried about falling.
I’m not riding the DRZ much lately coz I don’t have anyone to go with and it’s a bit unsafe to ride alone. I’ve had a couple of close calls with crashing and don’t want to be injured or stuck, it happened when I was 15 and I learned a valuable lesson on riding alone.

You have to find him a lower off road bike....

I agree, being alone in back country is never a good idea...

Unfortunately he is as tight as a fish's ass . . and that is water tight! lol.
He's just not that keen or interested enough in off road/adventure riding to shell out the cash for a bike.
I've shown him how much fun it can be, and he acknowledges that, but I'll keep working on it lol.

You may come across the odd good used off road bike in his price range especially in your business.

...here's hoping as a good riding buddy is golden.

Yesterday I went for a group ride (I HATE group rides!!) coz my mate talked me into it, about 30 bikes, went to Kaikoura and back. 500kms round trip.
The biggest problem with group rides is the pace is usually hot and in the twisties the passing manoeuvres get very very stressful to put it mildly.
The good thing about it is the cops won’t pull anyone in the group over, they will not deal with more than one for “safety reasons” lol.... soooooo.... the average cruising speed is well above the speed limit. For anyone interested here is an article regarding new police pursuit rules and policy...
Anyway, it was a hot day, sunny but windy too, and no one fell off!
Went to beautiful old Irish pub for lunch and drinks and chewed the fat for awhile.
Was a great day!
